We decided to build a new house in April 2014 in New Castle. After going through the showhomes in the area, we loved the finishings with Pacesetter and their use of coffered or tray ceilings in their designs that we didn't see with the other builders. We knew we wanted to build with Pacesetter, but we just had to find the right floor plan. After visiting a number of show homes and spec homes we fell in love with one and were able to tailor it to meet our needs. Moe, our salesman, was great in walking us through the process and explaining what was standard vs upgrade. We had built a home with another builder before and had a pretty good idea what upgrades and changes we wanted to make, but Moe was able to make some great suggestions as well that we wouldn't have thought of. Through the entire design and build process Moe was always quick to track down answers to the questions we had. No build isn't without stress and frustration and the waiting to get blueprints updated and to get into DesignQ to pick out all of the interior finishings (had to be done before permits are submitted and the build prcoess begins) was the hardest part. Why you need to pick out your paint colour before they submit a building permit is beyond me. There some miscommuniation and our file was missed being sent to the city to get a permit and we lost a month waiting, they said they would get us back on track and make up the time they had lost and they were true to their word getting us two weeks after another couple that had written a deal two weeks before us. Once the ground was staked and construction began there was progress every week. Things slowed down after rough-ins were done to get inspections, but once insulation started things moved at a fast pace. From stakeout to completion was 8 months, which ws pretty good since our old house took 7 months and was smaller and didn't have the finishings this one did. A week before posession we had our pre-occupancy inspection. I'm not sure if other builders do this or not, but this gave us an opportunity to point out defects and things to be fixed a week before we got possession to get it all done before we got the keys. It also gave us a chance to meet the site supervisor James and his assistant Chase. They made you feel like your home is in good hands and treated as though it were their own. I only wish we were able to meet them earlier on in the process as it would have given us piece of mind that the builder really did care about the house and it wasn't just another house they were trying to crank out. If you're looking to build in New Castle with Pacesetter you won't regret it. We can't say enough good things about James and Chase as they always try to go above and beyond and to make sure we're completely satisfied. There was a pile of mangled rebar on the lot next to us which was a safety concern with our two kids and they day after we brought it up, it was cut up and taken away. On possession day there were only a few minor things to fix and only one or two items were they not able to remedy on the spot. VERY impressed! The house was very clean on possession day. We were expecting to have to clean it right away, but we didn't need to. We would definately build with Pacesetter again, but now that they've build us our forever house, we're never moving!

Company Response

Thank you so much for your kind comments, Shaun! While we're sorry to hear about the hurdle with permitting, we are very happy to know that your needs were met and you are pleased with your new home. We hope you have many happy memories for years to come!

We had a few companies come out and give us quotes for an air condtioner and loved the fact that Romaniuk is locally owned and operated and not owned by large US companies whch have bought up other local outfits and were cheaper than some of the bigger guys. Impressed with the whole process from the salesman we had (Dave) to the guys that came to do the install (Mark). They put down a red carpet so they didn't track any dirt into the house, kept the inside and outside of the house perfectly clean and asked a number of times if we had any questions. Dave came back a week later in person to follow up an make sure we were completely satisfied. The whole process from end to end was enjoyable and stress free. There's nothing they could have done to improve the experience we had. Would definately recommend them to anyone!!
