I noticed melting snow was leaking from the end of one of my eavestroughs. I contacted a trusted exterior siding company that did a big project for my mom's house the year earlier, to see if they could do the repairs on my house. They didn't specialize in doing that kind of work, but the rep recommended the Gutter Patrol, which I'd never heard of before. I sent them an email and a week later Moe got in touch and came out the next day. He actually identified another leak which I had missed. After quoting a very reasonable price to fix both leaks, plus extend a couple other downspouts, I gave him the green light to go ahead. Moe came out a couple weeks later (he had to wait for mild temps for safety reasons) and got the job done in an afternoon. He showed me detailed photos of the condition of the downspouts and eavestroughs, which was very helpful for planning some additional maintenance work for next spring. I would recommend Gutter Patrol -- reasonable prices, friendly and knowledgeable service, prompt response and follow up.

I found Blue Flower Sunrooms when I was cruising the home and garden show. I asked Cher to come by and give me an estimate. First time around I was probably thinking too "big" and the estimate was a lot more than my budget could handle. The next year I met Cher again at the home show. She recognized me and we started talking again. We discussed options on ways to have the sunroom fit my budget and worked out a plan. She came out again, gave me a new estimate and I signed on the dotted line. It's smaller than the original size we talked about, ending up at 14'x14' screened walls with a translucent roof. She scheduled construction to begin for the following month, but at the last minute, she called to say that they had a window of opportunity to install that week. The project foreman made an appointment with me to check out the foundation/deck before starting the work. He was friendly and professional and worked with me to make sure all the small details were ironed out. He was thorough and detail-oriented. Construction went smoothly and quickly and they completed the sunroom with no issues within a few days. They cleaned up the site afterrwards, but I had to do a more thorough cleaning with a mop to clear off all the tiny metal shavings -- I wanted my cat to be able to enjoy the room too. I love my screened sunroom. It cuts the bugs and the wind and allows me to enjoy my backyard a whole lot more.

After 30 years, our driveway was long overdue for a re-do. We hired Big Daddy to do the job and they got the job done in June 2011. Problem was, we noticed a bit of spalling and cracks developing during the following winter. The worst part was that the blocks along one half of the driveway started heaving well over a half inch higher than the blocks on the other half of the driveway. We contacted Shirley and she came out to check. It may have had to do with the fact that they used 2 separate cement batches (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) when they poured the cement. Even the colours were slightly different, although that didn't really matter to us all that much. The heaving was the biggest problem. To their credit, Big Daddy stood tall on their 1-year warranty, and at their own cost, re-did the entire driveway. They came out this August (2012), tore up the 1-year-old concrete, and poured a single new batch. Now it looks great, all one colour, and the blocks are perfectly level. We'll see in a year if it makes it through the winter without spalling, cracking, or heaving.

I visited Marble Factory's showroom and liked the variety of finishes and colours of their cultured marble countertops. It looked comparable to Corian but much more affordable. I got a 9' countertop with 2 integrated sinks in a faux granite finish. When Tony (the owner, I think) arrived to do measurements, he even gave me some advice on how to straighten out the base cabinets which I had installed myself (amateur job, I gotta admit). A month later, the countertop was ready. The guys installed it pretty quickly (boy, it looked heavy, and they carried it up 2 flights of stairs!), but when they left I noticed an inch long scratch and some un-polished spots. I called them -- No problem, they sent another guy out a couple weeks later. He polished both spots smooth and glossy so now it looks great. The only thing I miss is a written guarantee for the counter -- not sure if I was entitled to one, but if I have any issues I will call them.
