We were near the end of a kitchen reno, and needed the floor to be sanded and refinished. At first we went with a company recommended to us, but realized fairly quickly that they were fairly new to the business and used rented equipment. A job that was supposed to last 2 to 3 days started off with long gouges in the floor, which really came to light when the stain was put on. To add insult to injury the stain didn't match the floors in the hallway & living room. The original company sent in their top guy to try to fix everything, but 5 full working days later -- with other contractors put on hold -- he couldn't fix the issue. It was bad enough that several people recommended a full replacement. Long story short, Toronto Restoration Services was recommended to us. Jason reassured us that he and his crew would be able to do the job to our complete satisfaction, and to do it in two days or less. He was right. Alex and Oscar took care of the resanding in one afternoon, with dust-suppression vacuums that kept the mess to a minimum. Alex (truly an artist) came by the following day for the final stages, building the finish up by layers -- filler, perfectly matched stain, buffering, varnish layers -- followed by the quarter round + kickplates. Perfection! Another difference between the two companies was the smell: the first used something with enough VOCs to kill flies. Toronto Restoration was almost odour-free.

Company Response

Hi John ,

It's very important to ensure the right company is selected from the start. It was very unfortunate you lost over 1 week of production with your project, plus all the dust throughout your house with poor equipment. Very happy to have came and saved the day!

Thanks,

Jason Burns

A real pleasure to work with Anatoliy & his crew. We had a repeating leak at the back wall of our townhouse basement. Anatoliy explained the best way of dealing with it in very clear and pleasant terms, and offered a reasonable quote. Nikolas & Rudolf came on time, laid down drop cloths for their exits and entries, and all in all worked steadily, efficiently, courteously. In two days, they drilled out a strip (12-18") of the concrete pad between wall and floor (36' total), laid in weeping tile/tube, poured new cement, fitted the walls with dimple pads, & cleaned up afterwards as if it was their own house. The day-ending conversation about NHL players from Slovakia was a bonus!

Sergio was recommended to me by another electrical service company (Maple Leaf) which was too busy to do the long list of tasks that our house needed: Re-attach an antique light fixture that been improperly installed on an old plaster medallion; install an overhead outdoor light; remove the previous front porch wall light and replace that connection with an outdoor electric socket; replace a faulty dimmer switch on the 2nd floor; rewire the lighting system in the basement; replace a fixed wire oven range connection to a wall plug. Sergio was quick, efficient, personable, and as patient as Job during the whole job, as I added several of the above-mentioned tasks at the last moment and changed the description of a couple of the others. No problem for Sergio, who was educated in his home country as an engineer but switched to electrical work after coming to Canada, and got his Master's diploma a couple of years ago. I would strongly recommend Blue Eagle.

First, Maciej did the most careful inspection of our roof prior to giving an estimate. He actually indicated we could put off the shingle replacement for a couple of years, which of course inspired confidence, as it was clear he wasn't using the process to make a quick sale. Eventually, we signed on to do the deal. The one issue I have with the company is that communication wasn't the greatest prior to the first day of the company's arrival, but once the job got started, the crew put in long high-energy days until the job got done. The crew was unfailingly polite and attentive not just to our questions and concerns but also to those of our neighbours. We're in a row of century-old townhouses, with our roof connected to neighbours', so their attention to the social configuration was good to see. Another difficulty of the job was that M&R had to remove 3 layers of shingles as well as the original slate covering on a relatively small property with confined space to move. M&R pulled off (so to speak) this part of the job with efficient precision, as they have in so many other locations in old Toronto. Clean-up after each day of a messy 3-day job was thorough, and much appreciated. I would very strongly recommend M&R to anyone looking for a roofer.
