I called the Appliance Guy to fix my stove explaining in 2 messages and by phone and in person that the baking element was not working on our stove and that when we self-cleaned it, it was stuck closed. He worked on the self-cleaning problem for over an hour and then "didn't realize" that the baking element was broken. He said it wasn't worth fixing our stove but insisted I pay him for 2 hours of time he spent. If he had listened to me, he could have checked out the baking element problem and concluded that we needed a new stove in minutes and I would have just had to pay the minimum. He is a really nice guy but I wouldn't use him again.

Company Response

I really tried my best to salvage your range. In order for me to have been able to check the oven properly I had to unlock the self-clean mechanism and ensure that it would remain unlocked. In my 30 years of experience, I have had many ranges that don’t bake because of the lock mechanism. I thought that by fixing the lock mechanism, I would get the range to bake. After spending time on the lock mechanism I was able to manage a way to set it to bake without the lock mechanism being stuck on lock. Unfortunately, the pc board was not allowing power to get to the bake element on one side of the line. It turns out, in this case, that we were dealing with two problems: the lock mechanism and the printed circuit board. There was no physical evidence that your bake element was broken. Sometimes they do break when they burn out. In this case, your bake element is just fine; however, the problem is with the circuit board. It would be my pleasure to order a new pc board and come back and install it for you, AT NO EXTRA CHARGE for my labour. It is very important to me that my customers are happy.

We had rented a gas water heater for 22 years from "you know who", and it died. When a crew of people showed up a week later from the giant company that shall remain nameless, they were totally unprofessional and left us in the lurch, telling us to go buy a new electric water heater from Home Depot and install it ourselves. We called Buttons, they came that night, walked us through our options and less than a week later they came and installed it in just 2 hours. They were courteous, friendly and professional. I am home with a baby and they were in and out without any hassles and it was such a relief. Now we need a new furnace and plan to give them our business because service is everything when it comes to your basic utilities. We have met with Gordon, the Buttons furnace sales person, and he has been knowledgeable and not pushy like the other companies that keep calling me and pressuring me. He did not try to push the most expensive option and he walked me through the rebates in a clear and concise manner. They have earned our business and our recommendation.
