Labour well over-estimated, workmanship well underdelivered, owner would not even look at the deficiencies (some of which in error of manufacturer's instructions) unless I threatened not to pay; bottom-line very poor contractor and a very poor job (I paid the balance and cut my losses).

Provided product differs from on-line pic (make sure you read the fine print), product also came with scratch. Also read return policy which is unfavorable to the Buyer, again read the fine print.

Make sure you ask this Dealer will the fireplace make a banging noise when it warms up between most thermostat on/off cycles, this Dealer's solution is to only operate the flame on "low" setting. Also ask the Dealer what they think of Napoleon's customer support group, this Dealer says at best they can read a manual. Of course none of this info was provided by the Dealer before sale.

Company Response

The consumer that has left a review with home stars has had our technicians up to investigate noise from his fireplace. Not accepting our explanation of the noise, the consumer has called the manufacture directly, who also has advised the consumer of expansion noises. The manufacture called us to discuss and asked if we could return and make another call to the consumer to check and adjust a few things, which we did. Upon evaluating the fireplace, the noise has been determined to be heat expansion noise. The manufacture has been contacted, by ourselves and the consumer to discuss and is now in the hands of the manufacture.
Of note, operating a fireplace at a lower setting during different times of the year will keep a fireplace on longer before a wall thermostat is satisfied, this will not only help eliminate the chance for heat expansion noises (as there will be limited time for temperature difference in the metal) but will also create a much more enjoyable even heat.
We have worked with Napoleon customer support group for many years and respect their input and solutions.

Most times when this fireplace lights (via the thermostat call) after a minute or so it goes "bang", Dealer suggested to only run the fireplace on low flame (that's great) and further advised me Napoleon would be of no help (stated at best Napoleon's customer support agents could read the manual); at first Napoleon said the fireplace should not go bang, weeks later they decided banging was acceptable. Great to hear a bang in the middle of the night, gives you that "unsafe" feeling. DO NOT BUY A NAPOLEON FIREPLACE UNLESS YOU ENJOY REGULAR BANGING.
