Moving Company

LETTER TO PREMIER VAN LINES:
It`s been nearly two years since we made arrangements with Premiere Van Lines of Mississauga to move us from Brampton to Wasaga Beach on Nov 15, 2013. We have been very busy since then, plus we have dealt with cancer in between and now feel it necessary to remind your company that we totally picked the wrong movers!
We had items in storage, and my husband took the movers over to the storage area and left them to load. This was a very bad idea as they were obviously just casual labour workers and literally THREW everything into a small moving van without wrapping anything, as was obvious when the damaged goods arrived 5 days after our move:
1. Bicycle: seat ripped, chain protector broken and brake harness broken
2. Two individual cracked lamps, both from matching pairs
3. Four-seater bench seat from E350 Van: Fabric ripped, and underside hitch clamp damaged
4. Light-maple bench seat container with lid: scratched and chipped
5. A beautiful garden ornament -- Herring Bird Art Work made of granite, broken
6. We still cannot find 2 boxes of china that went completely missing!
We took pictures of all the damaged goods and emailed them to the president of the Premier, as we thought he would want to know what his employees were doing, but he did not reply and when we phoned 10 days later, he had just left for Florida. We were not particularly concerned about the cost of these damaged items but really wanted a written apology to explain why the company would hire such careless workers but no reply ever came. The Premier salesman, Frank had also offered us a $50.00 promotional offer, but that was never given to us.
A very important fact in our minds was that the movers eluded to tell us that the small moving van had not arrived on moving day until AFTER our credit card had been charged. While Darren the driver was getting into the van to drive away, he casually told us that one of the men in the small moving van had injured himself and that the rest of our contents would be delivered the following day. Had we known this we obviously would have withheld payment until delivery of ALL our contents. My husband & I had both been up all night and were INSIDE the Wasaga Beach house putting our contents in place while the movers were unloading OUTSIDE. We had not moved in 30 years and trusted Premier to do a good job that day. How stupid were we!
We should have gone with another moving company, as two of our friends used them to move to Wasaga Beach several years before and told us that their moving day was a dream. Those were their exact words. Carlos had given us a hand-written quote but unfortunately we decided to go with Premier, who gave us a very formal printed quotation and we found the website to be very impressive but later found it was completely false. Premier advertised that their movers were professionals, wore uniforms, and were punctual. None of that was true. Just goes to show that you should never believe claims companies make in their web sites. Word of mouth is the only way to go. Needless to say we have told everybody we know about our nightmare move with Premier and will continue to do so. In fact today we just referred another couple to another moving company in Brampton.

Moving

Premiere Van Lines Mississauga did a great job in moving us from Caledon to Oakiville. I got 3 bids, which included packing, before selecting the company that I was going to use. I then, however, checked their ratings online and became very concerned with my choice. I didscussed this at length with Sarah (my contact there) and through her reassurance, I carefully decided to use them for my move and am very glad that I did!! They did an excellent job! I found them professional, polite, and very hard working. Because I was downsizing, some of my furniture was going to our cottage a week before the big move (you can tell by the price that it was a big job) Everything that they said that they would do, they did. Everything that they took apart, they put back together. I would definetely use them again. Thanks to Sarah who walked me through everything and gave me confidence in choosing them and that the move would go well. Thank you to Perry and Chris who are awesome packers and movers and to Matt, Steve, Bill and Riu the movers to our cottage and new house. They moved 27,000 pounds of our belongings out of one place and into 2 others and there was not one mark or dent in any wall, floor or belongings being moved. I will definetely use them again.

Local Move

We called Premiere for a small local move within Toronto. The Sales Rep, Blair, never disclosed to me that there was a four hour minimum. The movers were great but we were taken aback by the bill, which was initially $760 for just over an hour of work. We would never have gone with Premiere had we known there was a 4 hour minimum. After much back and forth with the very aggressive sales rep, we ended up paying for 3 hours work. It was all a very unpleasant experience. Blair apologized for not having disclosed to us about the 4 hour minimum, but said that all movers charge a 4 hour minimum. From a quick internet search I see that this is not true. Check out:

Two-bedroom apartment move

I booked a two-bedroom apartment move with a small, cheap company, and three days before they scheduled move date they called me and cancelled. I then called Premiere Van Lines, and they assured me they would do the move, and that the price would not be higher due to short notice.

Sure enough, they showed up right on time, and did a great job! The team of three was working very efficiently, they properly protected all the sensitive stuff, and there was not a scratch on anything when the stuff was delivered. The whole operation lasted less than the minimum four hours they charge.

And a nice detail: since the truck had to be parked in front of the accessible building entrance, it was blocking the entrance. An old lady with a walking assistance device needed to enter the building there, so one of the guys dismantled the ramp and moved the truck so the lady can go in, while the rest of the guys were hauling up the stuff which was already removed from the truck. This was very considerate of them, and also helped us not establish a bad reputation with our neighbors right on day 1.

I would always recommend Premiere Van Lines.

Move - Truro, NS

Do not use this Company!!!
I did a local move and purchased four extra boxes from Staples so they stood out from my other boxes. One box was missing when I started to unpack my items. I called them three times and told them I was missing one box but the owner called me back and told me that no box was turned in and it would show up (it never turned up so I called again and got the same response. He told me this happens all the time, so put two and two together and it doesn't take long to figure out where my box went. This one box contained over $9,000 plus in items that I never found.

Move from Oakville

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- THEY BROKE APPROX $5000 WORTH OF MY PROPERTY AND REFUSED TO REIMBURSED ME. They sent a truck that was too small the workers swore infront of my young kid, and I moved more boxes than the movers. They low balled the quote and then tried to change it after the move. The workers that were here also admitted that they low ball the quotes to get the job and then increase the bill at the end. The guys broke about 5K worth of my things- we moved accross Canada twice and did not have any problems and we move about an hour down the road and these guys break alot of stuff and refuse to pay up. I complained to the BBB and they refused to comply so I am just warning everyone I speak to DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL NOT HONOUR THEIR WORK - DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS I DID.
