Unreliable & Disappointed -please do not waste your energy

Victor promised to finish my project in 3 weeks max but the work lasted for 8 weeks without completing the job. The first week my house was busy, then the following week had just 2 workers and things got worse from that point. I got fed up and warned him not to return. The worst issue was that one of the major work (hardwood floor installation) was unprofessionally done, there are huge gaps in between the wood and the floor squeaks when I walk on it. He claimed that the wood was defective, then I asked him why he installed it without consulting me first. Victor behaves irrationally and money given to him cannot be retrieved. I
electronically transferred 80% of his fees and gave him some in cash, I will be suing his company with all the pictures and video recording from
his work.

Galveston Construction Goes By The Book And Doesn't Cut Corners

I initially hired Galveston Construction to repair the front door and repair the sagging deck. I asked Victor to go and check the upper bathroom, where he discovered rot under the bathroom window. I initially wanted to hire him for a bathroom renovation, but after discovering the rot under the window beside the shower head, he advised me to call Servicemaster as they have a mould abatement licence, which I did. He and his crew refused to touch it until Servicemaster was finished. Fortunately, there wasn't any mould.

Victor goes by the book and and both he and his crew won't touch electrical or plumbing, insisting on hiring licenced plumbers and electricians, whereas other contractors will do it themselves without licences. However, the bathroom renovation got too costly for me, so I did it myself, and hired plumbers and electricians.

Instead, Victor acted as a consultant to guide me along in the bathroom renovation, preventing me from making costly mistakes. Homeowners have to realize that a job costs what it costs, and the highest estimate is usually the best one. Labour is expensive, and materials cost the same for all contractors. Contractors can only reduce costs by cutting corners. I recommend Victor both as a contractor and even a consultant for those do-it-yourself types. However, there's very few contractors who will act as consultants.

Unreliable communication and untrustworthy

We needed our windows redone. After quote and confirming 4-8 week window manufacturing, we waited and chased Victor for almost 3 months by phone, email and text with vague replies of delays with supplier. During the 4th month, we got an email with a range of dates that he was going to come by to finish job. Approaching that date, we tried to call to confirm date and time and his phone was disconnected and he was not replying to our email. Eventually said he had a new number. This was unacceptable to us and we were no longer sure that he was a) a real business b) that he would do the job well with this level of unprofessionalism. Its been over 6 months and we have yet to recieve any refund whatsoever despite being told we would. He has wasted so much of our time and trust... and almost $3000 of our money.

Kitchen, bathroom, window upgrade and more

Thanks to Galveston Construction for the all the work on our home. We upgraded our kitchen, a bathroom, replaced windows, floors and a whole bunch of small things.

Victor was great at helping us prioritize when we were not sure where to start. He helped to coordinate and find us great trades to get all the different jobs done - we were very pleased with all the vendors and contractors he arranged for us. In particular we appreciated the detail-work painter and tiler and the HVAC and flooring vendors.

My 15 year old condo kitchen now has new life!

Thank you to Victor and your crew for making my kitchen reno a breeze! I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and your crews professionalism!

My condo management doesn't make anything easy but you worked seamlessly with their requests and had the job done on time as promised.
