Proceed with caution when considering Edgecliff for your home renovation.

This company has cost us thousands in water damage. Yesterday we had a pipe burst below our Edgecliff reno, causing thousands of dollars in damage. It was due to a failed sharkbite fitting that they installed on a supply line to the bathtub. Thankfully i had taken pictures of some of the plumbing work behind the walls during the reno and were able to identify that these fittings were used for all supply line connections including our shower. We had to pay actual plumbers $1500 yesterday to replace all the sharkbite fittings with soldered fittings so this doesn't happen again, and plumbing repairs are not covered by our home insurance - only the damages which now entail: demo / drywall repair / trim replacement / flooring replacement / painting etc. The first thing they asked when they opened our ceiling below was "have you had a reno done recently?".

I will also mention that we never left a review after our work was done because there were a number of *shocking* customer service & worksmanship issues that happened during our reno experience so we could not in good conscience recommend them to anyone.

Approximate cost of services:
$100,000.00

Company Response

Hello Anonymous

Being unknown who you are, we are unaware of the scope of the project, you claim we performed, as you have never contacted us with your problem, if you had, we could have worked with you to resolve it. As you can see from our other 22 positive reviews, we are constantly communicating with our clients to ensure their stressful renovation projects are as smooth as possible. You say there was a burst pipe due to a failed sharkbite, this is not a quality or workmanship issue on our part. Material or equipment failures unfortunately occur, this is why Sharkbite provides a 25 year warranty on their products, it is most unfortunate you lay blame on Edgecliff for this failure, as from the sounds of your complaint it is a quality or workmanship issue. This would be the equivalent of saying it was our fault due to poor workmanship if a faucet failed and leaked the same way after what ever length of time it has been for your project. The second issue you bring up is that your plumber told you that sharkbites are not approved to be installed behind walls, this is INCORRECT. Some plumbers have an OPINION that they should not be used in this manner, however, if you do some research, they are an approved plumbing connector as per the Uniform Plumbing Code and National Plumbing Code of Canada. I would say you were taken by a greedy plumber seeing an opportunity to make some easy money, there are unscrupulous types out there. It is a shame you have experienced this to your home, but your comments towards Edgecliff are inflammatory and without FACT. If you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to contact us, contrary to your comments but aligned with the other 22 positive reviews we work with our clients to ensure their renovation experiences are as stress free as we can make them.

For those readers that do research Homestars investigation of this internet troll is only a verification that they are signed up with Homestars, there is no actual investigation done. We suspect this is a disgruntled client that is not happy with a recent legal suit as they are posting this all over the internet.
