Full home demo and asbestos abatement
The company that tested our 100 year-old home for asbestos referred me to Green Life and to two other companies for abatement and demo services. I contacted all three of them to provide quotes. I received Jasons quote within 24 hours of meeting his colleague, David, at the house (the other two companies took 3 days and 7 days to send quotes). His quote was competitive and was more comprehensive in its scope than the other two quotes. For example, even though all three companies had the complete copy of the hazardous materials report, he was the only one to propose addressing the lead paint in the basement. He responded immediately when I asked to clarify and confirm a few things. He was flexible with his start date and provided an estimated completion date that he ultimately beat by about 3 days.
His crew did an excellent job and he sent me pictures of their progress each day which was very helpful as it wasnt possible to access the site during the project. I told him that he actually left the site looking better than when he arrived which seems absurd given that he took a 1700 square foot, 100-year old house down to the studs but I truly meant it. Their clean up was extraordinary and he took great care not to disrupt our neighbours (tough to do with a semi-detached home). They also removed a glass sunroom addition that had been tacked on to the back of the house 25 years ago and was in horrible condition. Remarkably, theres not a shard of broken glass anywhere in the back yard after their work.
There were a few surprises (i.e., an extra ceiling above what we thought was the original ceiling and an extra floor beneath the first two floors) so the cost was more than originally quoted but the adjustments were all very reasonable given the extent of the required out-of-scope work.
If I were to ever require demolition support on a future project, I would definitely hire Jason again. The general contractor Ive hired to do our renovation was also very impressed with Green Life's work and has said that he plans on using Jason in the future too.
