Buyer Beward

The 2 is given for the congeniality and time committed by the technician Tom. He seemed knowledgeable and provide some critical information about recalls.
The rest of my encounter with the company was less than satisfactory, especially regarding pricing. My appointment with the company was to diagnose a high efficiency furnace that quit in the night
In my phone call to make an appointment I asked repeatedly about charges: $70 for the call out, then there would be an estimate for any repairs. Totally inaccurate. $70 to come to the door, the $29.99 for shop supplies, and a choice of $300 some for a diagnosis, or $300 and something more if you'd like a tune up as well. This was not but could have, should have been revealed in the phone call when I asked. I have such a hard time with companies that are intentionally evasive and dishonest about what the customer is getting into.
That aside, I needed the furnace assessed, dumb on my part, I went with the tune up option.

Tom did a diagnostic, explained his results. Yes, the furnace needs to be replaced, major issues with an expensive control board, heat exchangers compromised. No tune up done of course, I get that, but it took awhile to convince this tech that then I shouldn't be paying for the tune up portion. (I signed for a tune-up, therefore, thats what I need to pay for. Of course, I could ask the office for a reimbursement ?????)

The final straw is the diagnostic report. I received it in the form of an invoice. Two brief paragraphs saying tech came into my house, tinkered with this and that, found issue with control board, heat exchangers, recommended replacement. No check list, no explanation of the testing specifics for the board or motor (even though there were specifics as explained to me in the debrief). NOTHING that another tradesperson could use to assist with future consultations or for referring back to. ( Yes, I did call another company to look into a replacement) LOTS of advertising in the invoice.

So, where am I with this? $433 out of pocket provides me with an understanding that there's a problem, I best have another company, more reputable than this one, proceed with replacement.

Approximate cost of services:
$433.00
