High Pressure Sales, and product was the wrong colour

Valerie insisted in coming to our house on a weeknight, right during the dinner hour with our children. She did not have ideas on how to decorate, or even colour suggestions. Instead she wanted us to make an on the spot decision about type and colour of the blinds. In the end, while we like the style of the blinds we chose, the colour for the kitchen blind clashes with our house (I was told that it would be an off white; in fact it is a distinct grey which does not go with our beige, chocolate and tan kitchen theme). Her prices are high, and she will nickle and dime at every turn, including not accepting credit cards without a higher fee. She did not reach out to ask if we were happy with the service--her only communication was re. money. You can get these blinds with better service elsewhere. Her installer is professional and very polite.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,000.00

Company Response

Hi Lisa,
I wish you had communicated directly with me instead of around me. Regardless, I'll address some of the notes. First and foremost I received an email from your husband after the shades were installed with the subject line "Love the Blinds". Followed up with the body of the email "Could not be more pleased! Love them! Can’t even really notice them up which was our big concern. You would think they came with the window. They are perfect. Dwayne did a great job and fast too. Thanks, Craig and Lisa." I should also add that you too wrote in a separate email "We are very happy with the blinds."

1. It's important to note that your husband set up the appointment with me on a weekday evening so that I could accommodate your schedule. As most people, I do enjoy working standard business hours but I did come to your home at 7 p.m. on a Monday night to work within your timing at your request.
2. Several styles were presented and discussed, which is why you chose two different styles in your home. The colour picked for your kitchen was chosen by you, and while you may have changed your mind about the colour (the colour Greige (grey/beige) was also written in your invoice pre-order), this is a custom product and therefore cannot be "exchanged" with no cost associated with it - which we discussed over email.
3. My prices are competitive, you did not pay full price but a discounted rate for shades that fitted your precise needs. As to be expected, custom shades are more than off-the-shelf-shades.
4. Again, to accommodate your work schedules, the installation occurred on a Sunday morning. I was not able to follow up right away as I had to attend my own wedding shower, however I did respond to both you and your husband's email the following day. You and your husband seemed to once share the same sentiment about the blinds. It is too bad you no longer feel the same way.

Best,

Valerie
