Poor communication but okay in the end

I posted earlier about a disaster with a heater I purchased from Boldt Pools last year. Things were made right in the end, but the moral of my story is to be persistent about your problems with products under warranty. Their customer service team will eventually listen, but dont be afraid to escalate it to management if front-line staff are unresponsive. Boldt management does seem to genuinely care about their customer service pledge.

Poor communication

I posted earlier about a disaster with a heater I purchased from Boldt Pools last year. I turned to HomeStars because I couldn't seem to get anyone in their service department to actually listen to the scenario. I finally got through to them (I think) and am hopeful that there will now be a resolution. Apparently I can't delete my review on HomeStar, so I've edited it to recognize the change in circumstances. Will update again if it is fully resolved.

Don't trust these people and their "warranties"

Absolutely brutal service from these people at Boldt Pools St Catharines. They installed a heater for me last summer. Early this summer my plumbing melted and I may have blown my pump if I hadn't found it in time, leaking all over my pool shed. I went into their store with the melted plumbing to show them what happened and to explain that I'd just had the heater installed less than 12 months earlier and it had worked fine last year. Instead of sending a tech, they consulted with several employees and blamed me for the issue, saying that the plumbing from the filter TO the heater needed to be solid pipe, not flexible (something they had themselves installed with the heater). As though water coming from the filter would be boiling. So I left with all the parts needed and installed new rigid pipe as they told me to. Those pipes then melted. By this time I realized that it made zero sense to sell a customer a heater that melts pipes. So I called them to insist there was a problem with the heater. They still maintained that there probably wasn't and that if the service call was unnecessary I'd have to pay for it. Knowing I was right, I told them to send the heater guys. They quickly determined that the heater was malfunctioning sending boiling water (150+degrees) in the wrong direction, melting my pipes. Had I been in the shed when it happened I could have suffered third degree burns. They removed the broken part promising it would take a couple days to get a replacement. Then radio silence for weeks. Nobody ever called. After following up with Boldt multiple times, and being promised they'd get back to me (they never did, even after I stopped by in person to discuss the matter), I called again and they told me the part had "just" arrived. The heater is currently leaking from where the boiling water melted a seal - it's a part attached to the heater, not part of the plumbing. The new plumbing that I paid to install is also leaking just as the original flex plumbing that they installed was after the boiling water went through it. The short of it is that they sold me a bad heater, which damaged plumbing that they told me I had to pay to replace (which I did). That plumbing then partially melted, and they refuse to take any responsibility for it. They insist that they will only change the damaged part of the heater and leave the leak on the heater and leave the leaky plumbing that melted after they first misdiagnosed the problem. I got a voicemail saying that if I wanted the leaking part of the heater (I sent them a pic) fixed, I'd have to pay for a separate service call. The worst part is that it is impossible to talk to a manager/owner who should hear about how they are conducting business down at Boldt Pools.
