Decks are often a significant investment for most homeowners. So after doing some research on Homestars and other review sources, Golden Valley Decks stood out based on consistent positive customer reviews. And I can say that all the great reviews of Golden Valley Decks holds true based on our experience.
We replaced a 15 year old 5x8 original builder deck with a quality built 16x24 deck with a 12x16 Pergola. We engaged 3+ vendors to get rough quotes. After vetting the quotes(was it within our budget), reading ratings and reviews on the internet. We selected 3 vendors to engage for the next step and Golden Valley Decks was one of them.
Each vendor’s salesperson that showed up took the time to explain the pros and cons of various materials that could be used within our budget. Ryan was never pushy at all. He provided pictures, gave us some additional ideas etc. and set expectations. For example he said that he would have to use screws for the stairs due to safety needs versus the hidden plugs for the decking.
Based on our needs and ideas/options, he quickly was able to give us a quote. He said he had availability Mid-October (it was late August that we signed), we agreed to the timeline and put a deposit down. It was one of those “If you want the best haircut, you wait for the best barber” scenerios. Fortunate for us, due to another of Ryan’s projects being delayed due to deck color material shortages, Ryan was able to start in late September so that was a bonus for us. Tip: select common composite deck boards if that is the route you chose to go.
Ryan and his team were punctual and responsive to our needs. They came in one day, drilled the holes for the post and set the foundation. Then the next week, they spent just short of 3 days to complete the deck as our was pretty simple and straight forward. Simply amazing, they worked like a well oiled machine.
With every project there will be some minor changes and Ryan and team were able to accommodate. For example, we bought curtain rods and Ryan was able to mount them for us. Something very simple but important to us. If you have major changes, expect delays and possible cost adjustments- buyers need to be clear on the design and plan. Fortunately for us we spent a lot of time developing our somewhat simple design so there were no major changes.
Ryan really does love to build decks and his and his team’s experience shined. He built the deck to ensure it was compliant with local deck building bylaws. The deck was built a head of time and on budget ! We love our deck. And we are happy we got Golden Valley Decks to build it for us. From engagement to building the deck, it was a very positive experience.
My highest recommendations for Ryan and the Golden Valley Decks team ! Thank you Ryan and team !
