We were told on the phone that it was $80 to have a service person attend at our home to diagnose and provide a quote. They further advised that if we proceeded with any quoted repairs, the $80 would be applied to the total cost.
The technician arrived just as we had to leave for an appointment, but our 80 year old father was home. The technician asked us to sign for the repairs so he could proceed while we were out. Before he arrived, our built-in microwave was still powering on, the clock was working and the time was counting backwards. It just wasn't heating. When we returned home, we had an invoice for $298 charged to our visa for "servicing" yet, now even the power was not working and we were told that it now required a mother board at an additional cost of $300. So, basically we were charged $300, not the $80, we were quoted for a diagnosis - and were left with more issues than before he arrived.
