Avoid dealing with Kevin Bonar, a roofer in Hamilton. Here's why. For those reading this review, I am not talking about 310-ROOF.com. I am talking about another company who interestingly used the name 310-ROOF.ca and even had the same phone number (different area code) of 310-7663 (ROOF) as the .com. While his original website is gone, you can see he's also used 310roofcanada https://sites.google.com/site/310roofcanada/com at some point in the past. Mr. Bonar installed a cedar roof in 2008 on a house we purchased in 2011. While the previous owner did not recommend Mr. Bonar, we decided to contact him when it came time to re-treat the roof as it would give him an opportunity to address some issues with the flashing. He appeared to be proud of his work, and indicated he would also install flashing on a portion of the roof at no extra labour cost (because it should have been put on in the first place). The cost of the job was $2000 plus taxes. He asked if he could take pictures of the before and after and use it on his website (I did not agree or disagree to this). We provided a deposit of $1000 on April 3rd, 2013. In late April, he initiated the work (although we never saw him actually working at our home), and indicated he had purchased the copper flashing and material to loosen some lichen etc. As a result, he asked for another $800 (I foolishly gave him $600), apologizing and admitting it was unusual. The promise was that the job was to be done the next day, and he asked me to be home early to complete the payment. Unfortunately, Mr. Bonar failed to show up the next day. He called a few days later and indicated there a family emergency. He then told us he would reschedule us for the following week. Over time and repeated excuses, it became apparent that the job was not going to get done at all. The last time he indicated he was coming, he asked if his equipment was still i n our backyard (where it had been dumped for weeks). It wasn't because his crew had taken it away. He sighed and said he'd get back to me. He didn't. Big surprise. To top it off, he damaged the eaves. We asked for our money back in early June, which he indicated he would provide. Of course, he won't return our calls. anymore *and we've left a few - not very nice ones anymore) There is no physical address. We called the real 310-ROOF, who didn't return our calls directly but who did contact us through Homestars to indicate they were not affiliated with Mr. Bonar (I hadn't known this and wrote a review about them). After this, Mr. Bonar;s 310-ROOF.ca vanished from the web. I realize I've been naive. There are professional roofers out there in the Hamilton area. Kevin Bonar isn't one of them.
