New Furnace and AC

Both our AC unit and furnace were on their last legs. We received 4 quotes from companies. Steve was really great to explain their products and the rebates available to us. We also appreciated that he did not try to sell us into something we did not need.

Installers came at 8:00am and were finished just before 4:00pm with no mess left behind. We also really liked that Priority took out the proper permits to complete the job. We are very satisfied with the work performed, the professionalism of everyone we dealt with and with the product that was installed. We highly recommend giving them a call.

New Furnace and A/C

We recently had Priority Mechanical replace our old furnace and A/C. The experience from start to finish was the best we have had with a trade after 35 years in our home. Jeremy was extremely knowledgeable and patient; everything that was promised was delivered exactly as he said it would. The installers Shawn and Liam were incredible - super nice guys who were absolute perfectionists at their trade. They made sure that I knew I could ask questions and were willing to make any changes that were deemed important to me. They were clean and respectful of our home and I really can't say enough positive things about them. I could not find one single thing about the installation that was not perfect. I would say anyone looking for the services offered by Priority Mechanical would be hard pressed to find a better company.

New HVAC System

With our A/C dead for over a year and our oil furnace on its last legs, we did some research as to our options for a new HVAC system that did not rely on oil but did not require access to gas. The heat distribution in our 150 year old stone house also was a problem from the time we moved in. Our research into a new Mitsubishi heat pump system led us to Priority as a licensed dealer of this system. Jeremy and Steve met with us to assess our current HVAC system, challenges with the old house and explain two different heat pump systems. Jeremy had a thorough knowledge of both the Mitsubishi and Trane systems and how they would work in our home. With their guidance, we chose the Trane system and couldn't be happier. The additional air returns and they installed and rejigging of existing ductwork improved the air flow 100% in our home - and has helped with our damp stone basement problems.

The installation crew was courteous and worked tirelessly, and even called in additional crews to work until 7 pm on the day that Jeremy had promised we would have our A/C back (it was during the hottest week we had in mid-august - and we were SO greatful!).

Jeremy also came out to try and get our old A/C working before the new system arrived knowing that I was home with a baby in the house and it was extremely hot. He was not able to get it running due to the age of the system and some missing/ripped wires, but we really appreciated the effort to try to make our home more comfortable in the interim until our system arrived.

Steve and Jeremy answered all of our questions and Steve was even able to find us a rebate program to help with cost of the replacement of the HVAC and new tankless water heater. In cleaning up, the crew also vaccumed the piles of leaves in our basement that had accumulated over last fall and winter. They absolutely went above and beyond while working in our home.

We could not have been happier with Priority!

4 floor forced air HVAC system, split into two zones

We had a new house built for us last year and when we moved in, were very frustrated that with 4 floors, we were unable to manage temperatures effectively during the day or night, with one thermostat/zone, no matter what we tried.

Priority Mechanical started with a full balancing of the system in September, but we were still over-cooling the basement and first floor, and staying too warm during the night on the second floor where most of the bedrooms are located.

After receiving an in-depth consultation with Jeremy from Priority, we decided to implement his system design--which removed the main supply plenum and replaced it with two zone controlled plenums, managed by electro-mechanical dampers.

It was a fairly big job--they had to rip out the old supply duct and then move the return plenum over so that it would all fit back together properly. They also installed a new humidifier during the project.

The net result from their implementation which uses a Honeywell control system, including the Honeywell Vision Pro thermostats, has been nothing short of revolutionary for us. The thermostats are linked to an external wireless thermometer, and the system provides active frost management (window frost)--something that is really useful in this climate. We can now effectively manage air temperature and humidity across the two zones which gives us a lot of control at both the bedroom level and the main living level.

The difference before/after really is dramatic--the second floor can be at 60 F while the main floor is at 72 F, or vice-versa. The house is much more livable because of this change.

Priority's understanding of HVAC technology and quality workmanship puts them with the best in the field in my opinion and I believe that our newly zoned system will be working more effectively for a long time, with minimal maintenance.

In addition, with the Honeywell system, we have secure remote access (smart phone, PC, tablet) via Honeywell's Redlink gateway for monitoring, adjusting, and updating system scheduling. Honeywell also provides email alerts if the temperature goes too low or too high.

In summary, I think that Priority delivered exactly what they said they would deliver, and did it in a professional and courteous manner. Jeremy in particular, never failed to answer my never-ending questions about air flow, static pressures, motor speeds, and technology in general and was always spot-on with his advice as to the best approach to undertake.

If you have an HVAC problem to solve (large or small), I highly recommend that you contact him at Priority Mechanical. My only regret is that I didn't meet Jeremy and the team at Priority before we built this house.

Conversion from baseboard heating

We had a complete conversion from baseboard to gas heating and central air as well as complete ductwork throughout. We were very pleased at the quality and efficiency of both Jeremy and the entire team of installers. The AC was working in the first week and after the City changed the location of the meter the Guys piped the line to the house to the location we planned and it looks and works great! All of our requests for location of ducts and returns were met with no issues. We are very happy overall with the products and the work! We will recommend Priority Mechanical ever chance we get!

we did a massive home renovation that included new duct work, also new furnace, AC and gas fireplace.

We did a massive renovation of our recently purchased home, which was constructed circa 1965 and needed a lot of upgrading. Levi Barabas, and his team from Priority Mechanical, were a pleasure to work with. Their commitment to doing quality work was so impressive and every time an obstacle appeared Levi dug in and found solutions. Because the reno was so big we often had many trades working on site at the same time and I must also compliment the team from Priority for being respectful and co-operative with others. Finally, I need to say that their attention to follow-up issues was attentive and timely- no hassles! We would definitely use this company again and would confidently recommend them. They take pride in doing a great job!

Furnace and Air Conditioner

I would find it hard to imagine anyone better than all the people at Priority Mechanical. These folks are the real deal and I am very impressed with how serious they are about what they do. It started with a desperate phone call at 9pm on July 9th. Jeremy was good enough to answer the phone and sent Steve out to see me as soon as he could. Inside of a week I had the new furnace and A/C unit that I wanted. Keep in mind there was a weekend in there and it's the middle of July. The day of the install Shawn and Craig showed up right on time and I can't even begin to tell you how dedicated they are to providing the highest quality of workmanship as well as professionalism. Not only was the equipment nicely installed but the room was left in better and cleaner condition than it was when they arrived. The attention to details can be seen throughout the entire install and not a single screw, sheet metal filing, or zip tie clipping was left behind inside or outside of the house. I don't think it matters what these guys are doing as long as they get to do their best and nobody else out performs them. Even though the sale was made Steve and Jeremy individually showed up on install day to make sure everything was alright and Jeremy even helped custom cut some sheet metal although he was in his office clothes. While another company may be comparable I doubt very much that you will find anyone any better. It's hard to be happy parting with thousands of hard earned dollars but the way I have been treated by everyone at Priority Mechanical leaves me feeling not so pretty bad about it.

Air conditioning Service

I needed to move my air conditioner (AC) out of the way so a different contractor could do some work on my backyard. I called Priority Mech. (PM) and set up an appointment. I was told that the AC needed to be serviced before being disconnected and moved and I agreed to that. A technician came and did a really good job servicing the unit and disconnected it. I told him I will be calling PM to set up an appointment to reconnect the AC unit.
After few weeks, I called back to setup an appointment to reconnect the AC unit. The appointment was setup through the Service Dept. of PM and I was told that someone will be coming on a Thursday to do the work. On Thursday no one showed up.

And when I called I was unable to get the Lance, the manager of the Service Dept, on the phone for an explanation. So I left him a message through one of the secretaries and setup another appointment for the day after. The manager never called me back to apologize for not scheduling the appointment and did a good job avoiding to speak to me on the phone. Every time I called and asked for him, he was either busy or not available or out despite the numerous calls I made and messages I left for him.

On Friday a technician came to reconnect the unit and did the work. On that day I was very sick and was not able to check on every step of the work he did. When he finished the work, he gave me a verbal account of what he did and left without providing me with an invoice.

Few days later (I was feeling better) I checked the work done on the AC unit and realized that the metal fins were ruined in two different spots due to the fact that the technician hanged his gauges on the unit. I called PM and complained and I was transferred to the service manager. He said it was probably due to something else and that it's something to be expected since my unit was 15 years old. ( I never thought that people were supposed to replace their AC unit every 5 years ). Anyway a technician, a different one from the one who did the work, was sent to repair ( straighten the metal fins ). He was rude and very aggressive and said that the previous technician did not hang the gauges on the unit contradicting what I saw with my own eyes. I don't really understand why some employees think that it's good for business to be rude to a customer. In fact I felt threatened and I thought he was going to punch me before he finished the work. He left after doing half the work ( fixing only one spot instead of two ). I called PM and complained about the rudeness and the aggressiveness of their employee and I also asked that the AC unit be secured with two screws to the metal brackets on which it sits. I told them that the AC unit was secured before and I expected it to be secured again. I was told someone will stop some day and secure the AC unit. I am still waiting for that day.

I am very very disappointed. This is way below the industry standards in customer satisfaction, job completion...The first part of the job was done to my satisfaction but the second part of the job wasn't and PM is in no hurry to complete the job.

Company Response

Hello Mahfoud,
I am very sorry for the delay in addressing this review with you but since our last interaction on July 24th was so pleasant we are very shocked to hear that you felt threatened in any way and it took time to investigate what had happened since I was last speaking with you. I remember talking to you about the weather and you being so interested in the fin straightening tool I used that you wanted to know where you could purchase one for yourself. You had said that everything had been completed and thanked me for my service. Obviously this has left me very confused. If you had felt uncomfortable in anyway by either myself or anyone else at Priority Mechanical we would have hoped that you would have brought this to our attention immediately.
Regardless, we are very sorry to hear that you aren’t satisfied with our service after the initial visit to remove the condenser. We strive with everything we do to provide the best customer service in the industry, bar none. As we discussed when you weren’t happy with the re-installation of the condenser, we have not invoiced you for that work and the inconvenience of the scheduling issues. We feel as though payment is for a job done well. Not just a job done.
We hope that if something has changed since our last meeting to correct the final issues that you were concerned about, you would please contact us directly so that we can make things right. Unfortunately, I did not hear about the unit needing to be secured but I can stop by any time to convenient to you to do that. Again, we are very sorry that you felt this way about our service and would hope you would contact us to talk about a resolution to make you feel more comfortable.

Thank you,
Lance Masterson
