Outrageous prices

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! We had this business referred to us by LG to come and perform diagnostics and possible repair to a LG stove that had one of its heating elements not working. Prior to the visit we were informed by the above business an $80 service call fee will be applied (just to come to the address) before any diagnostics or work is done! When this person showed up he quickly inspected the stove and determined there was a loose connection in the non working heating element on the stove, which he tightened using some tools and the stove was fixed! It took 20min for him to complete this! He then proceeded to charge us $350.24 - $80 service call fee and $229.95 for half hour of labor plus $40.90HST!
As soon as this individual left we called LG and asked to get a quote with a different contractor for the same problem just to see what the price discrepancy would be!
We got a quote with a different company for the same amount of work for ONLY $150+hst and NO $80 SERVICE CALL FEE!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
STAY AWAY and safe your money! Do a comprehensive price matching research before you pick up the phone.

Approximate cost of services:
$350.00

Company Response

A recording of the quotes given to this customer is not what the customer is quoting. Prices given to this customer is service call fee of $80.00 and a diagnostic fee of 120.00 this is our standard fee. the diagnostic fee is no charge if the customer repairs the product. When the technician diagnose the product that when he can accurately apply labor charges. Labor rate is for the type of work and skill set required for this particular job , there is no hourly rate. The $350.24 that was paid includes HST of $40.90. Every company has their own pricing rates and policy depending on their structure and quality of repairs they stand by. Some companies quote low prices to get into consumer homes and then slap on additional charges for parts and other fees. We are transparent and quote prices that the industry is charging. These prices that customer said she received are from a non-verified company and made up and could have been a "Joe blow" working out of his truck. There is no way our technician spent 20 minutes on that particular job from the moment he rang the door bell to disassembling the unit, repairing it and reassembling it. If the repair was done in a short period of time then this occurred because because of the technician skill set acquired over years in the field. I could easily say to this customer they don't do a good job where they work but I do not know what accumulated experience and knowledge they acquire to use use in their job, and the sacrifice they made. So it is terrible to judge how fast someone works to complete a particular job. Our prices is standard industry prices and we are sticking with it.
