Custom Kitchen Reno

We used Millworx this past month and they were truly amazing!! My husband and I just did our kitchen renovation and we had an idea of what we wanted to do, but we were'nt sure how or where to continue. Millworx guided us through step-by-step and followed up with us consistently informing us about our kitchen project. They were helpful, they knew what they were doing, and their installation crew were awesome! The crew is highly knowledgable and detail oriented.

I don't know about 'Darrl from Etobicoke' but Millworx is a great company with a family crew that cares about their quality work and reputation.

Total Home Renovation

Did a horrible job on our counters, stairs drywall, paint and floors among many other issues. All need to be either redone or replaced. Don't know if Millworx has a long standing relationship with the subcontractors they used, but many of them are responsible for some very major issues. Been back on a number of occasions to address issues that are still there long after completion date. Millworx has not been very cooperative in addressing these issues in a manner that would be satisfactory considering the amount we have paid. Although I WOULD NOT recommend Millworx for any major renovation project, I would now recommend that as a homeowner you insist on knowing what subcontractors will be used and check their references and ratings. I would also strongly suggest that the homeowner insist on an independent site supervisor from the general contractor. It is my opinion that the site supervisor provided by Millworx should have easily been able to catch many of these issues and avoided the poor workmanship in the finished product. I do not know if it was his own limitations or his ultimately having to answer to more than just the homeowner. Six months ago when we moved back in I brought the ill fitted back door to Millworx attention. Had done so again when also contacting Millworx about a leak from my shower into my finished main floor laundry room. Millworx assessed the leak under the supervision of a 3rd party I hired to make sure they did what should be done. Although it was my 3rd party contractor who removed tile even though the Millworx site supervisor didn't feel it necessary, that is where the leak was found. The Millworx rep left without saying anything and giving no indication of what was going to happen to repair the leak. Having left so abruptly, the Millworx SS wasn't there when a second leak was detected by my 3rd party contractor. On that same day (Dec 3rd) I was informed by Millworx ownership that both the leak and back door would be fixed. Dec 13, ten days later, Millworx informed my legal council that they were not going to do the repairs. Heading into the holiday season it will be nearly impossible to get someone in to address the concerns. Millworx ownership says they stand behind their work. They are confortable leaving me with a water leak and a back entry door that is not only allowing the elements in, but poses a security risk because the door hardware can not engage as meant to do to secure the door. This is anything but standing behind their work.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Use better subcontractors
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Insist on a detailed contract outlining exactly what is to be done, by who and what provisions are made in case of poor workmanship. I would also insist on a independent site supervisor.
