I requested the service in a home depot custom service (Warden Store in Scarborough) on Dec 2, 2018, and I was told I would get a call back within 48 hours and i would be able to get some free vents cleaned for beyond 10 basic vents, and discuss about the service time. I rates this service low for the following reasons:
1. When I got the call back the same day, there was absolutely no negotiation about the price and the service time. They booked the time on Tuesday (Dec. 4) for me, but the exact service time can only be provided the day before the service (Monday). I received the call on Monday and the time was scheduled at 7:30-9:00AM on Tuesday. I had to request the reschedule to Wednesday, but I was told the exact time could not be decided until Tuesday. Eventually, I have take a day off for the service between 12:00-2:00PM on Wednesday.
2. The advertisement I got from the Home Depot says "Free Camera Inspection of Main Duct Lines". However this is not true. From the talk with the service staff, they did not have the right tool for it (Home Depot does not provide the tool for them). and they said the their best tool was phone. They could not use the phone to take picture for my house for whatever reasons. In my opinion, the Home Depot should provide inspection tool for them instead of using personal phones.
3. I did not see they cleaned the three vents in my basement at all.
4. I have done duct cleaning by other companies before. The price of those companies is almost a half of the Home Depot, but they provided the same service because I paid close observations to the work the Home Depot did. I was willing to pay higher price for a higher quality service but this did not happen.
