Beware of Hidden 'Call-out' fee for doing NOTHING

I got a question abour my newly installed furnace that has a JPS sticker on it. So i thought I'd give them a call enquiring. James answered my call offered to send over a technician, WITHOUT mentioning any fee or charge. I thought that was excellent service. The service guy came, opened up the back of the furnace, and gave me a talk on replacing filter EVERY month or my warranty would be forfeited (a new filter EVERY month really?? My guess is that they're going extreme to push unreasonable responsibilities onto customers so they wouldn't have as many service calls incl. normal wear'n'tear). He didn't change or replace anything. Now I received a 'call-out' bill of $70. I'd appreciate if he had mentioned the fee in advance; I thought it's covered in warranty/post installation customer care as the furnace was newly installed.
Oh I was also told labor is not transferable to new owners after installation. I suggest anyone with furnace service needs look elsewhere.
