This company seemed very disorganized. The work site crew kept asking me for directions even though they had the plans. I felt like I was the foreman. I even had to take time off work to provide instructions. That was ridiculous!

We hired Bytown to put in an iron fence through the yard. Very simple, straight, no gate, just a fence. They didn't show up on the day they were supposed to, I had to call. They were late the next time they showed up and put on new of the posts in the wrong spot, which I had to remove. Then they said they'd be back in 3 days to put the fence sections in, which turned into 3 1/2 weeks later, with 0 communication from he company about when I could expect it to be finished. They finally finished, the workmanship was fine, what you would reasonably expect for the job. But in the week AFTER It was finished I received a letter, 2 phone calls and an email asking for their money. I wish I had read reviews about them before signing a contract cause I would not hire or recommend them again. Very disappointing.

Had a deck installed 2 yrs ago. Horrible job. Squeaks everywhere. They finally fixed the issue only because they found out it was covered by an insurance. So this time it was done right. (3rd time ripped up) We had the most ignorant installer to the point where he was telling me to get out of my own yard. Bottom line, unless you are dealing directly with the owner of this company, don't go near them. You will regret it! If this wasn't for it being an insurance job based on defective product, I would definitely still have the squeaky deck.

This small job was part of many little jobs within a complex of houses. Rotten pieces of wood needed to be replaced on two panels of a wood fence, only half of the job was done. Not only the jobs for the complex were delayed many times for whatever reasons (...more lucrative jobs probably...) once they finally came to do it, they did half of the work. I sent the company emails with pictures showing the work not being completed. After follow up calls, I was told that the "job manager" was going to follow up with me, which never happened. I will have to complete the job myself, at a higher cost. They had a few chances to do it right, but didn't. Will not recommend this company to anyone.

I had Bytown build my fence last December (2013) and am not satisfied with their work. They dug the post holes and did not remove the clay. It took 4 hours of back breaking work for my wife and I to remove the clay using shovels and a wheel barrel.
A lot of clay and earth actually fell in my in ground pool while they were digging. Now I have to wait for the snow to melt to assess the damage.To add insult to injury they borrowed my extension cord and did not return it after I made repeated requests. I had to deduct the cost from their invoice…

Needless to say that I would not recommend them!

I used this company during the Spring of 2013. Kyle, the sales consultant, came to visit my home to take measurements and explain all the types of fences and features in detail. He was so nice and friendly! I decided on a black chain-link fence and I am very happy with the product and service. The installation crew was extremely courteous and they worked very hard! I hope to use Bytown again for a new deck this summer!
