I had a previous review here but am replacing it with a more current update: although we have discovered some problems with our renovation, Perfect Painters is working with us to hopefully resolve the issues.

Partial bathroom renovation

We hired Perfect Painters this summer to locate a source of moisture and renovate our bathroom. We originally had an issue with one of the sub-contractors who had left our business concluded unsatisfactorily, which was in my original review here.

Afterwards Michael (the owner) contacted us (as you might be able to see in his reply below if he leaves it in place after this edit) and apologized, and offered to help remedy lingering issues.

However now major deficiencies have been discovered, primarily water leaking out of the wall when the shower is run, and Perfect Painters is claiming that they are not responsible. We are in contact with them, trying to get them to fix the defect, but it has been more than two months with no appreciable progress.

Partial bathroom renovation

I had originally written a more negative review but am revising it now that our previous issue is being addressed. I figured rather than leave a suspicious-looking "Deleted by user" comment, I would provide context.

We hired Perfect Painters this summer to renovate our bathroom. We originally had an issue with one of the sub-contractors who had left our business concluded unsatisfactorily, hence the original negative review. However, afterwards Michael (the owner) contacted us (as you might be able to see in his reply below if he leaves it in place after this edit) and apologized, and is now working with us to address any lingering issues.

So while things didn't go 100% smoothly, Michael seems to want to keep his customers satisfied and is working with us to resolve our concerns and I wanted to raise my score to reflect that.

Partial bathroom renovation

Decent workmanship but a terrible personal interaction.

--------------

My wife and I hired Perfect Painters to do a partial renovation this summer on our bathroom: replacing the wall and tile behind the tub, the baseboard on one wall, and changing out the sink unit for a new one we supplied.

It started out great at first. The foreman Kevin came out to see the house, worked with us to figure out how to do the job within our budget and seemed really nice. The contractor he sent out, Wale, was nice too, and stayed long hours to get the job done.

However, things started to go wrong. The grout was messy and we had to ask to have it cleaned up. A large sharp edge was left on the tile after we were told the job was "finished", and we were only told days later that the part to cover it was on order and would be put in later.

The part that left the biggest impression, though, was when we got the invoice. My wife was sent the invoice and told her card was about to be charged. She wrote back saying a) Kevin said he needs to inspect it first and will he still be coming?, and b) can you please explain exactly what some of the items on the invoice are (there was a $800 charge error that had been corrected but still ended up on the invoice, and some additional work we agreed to after the initial quote was not itemized clearly and looked like a $1500 material charge).

The next morning, my wife receive a long, aggressive, angry-sounding email from the foreman, cc'ed to the head office. He accused us of refusing to pay (we did no such thing, ever), told us the job was worth more than we were paying, told her not to "be difficult", and even complained that my father who was visiting had pointed out the sloppy grout to the contractor (lumps, spatter, voids), adding that my father had an "unreasonable expectation of quality" for what we were paying.

We soon afterwords received a much more professional and helpful response from the main office. They cleared up the invoice ambiguities, answered all my wife's questions, scheduled the final inspection and processed the payment. The foreman showed up for the inspection and acted as if the email had never been sent, and never apologized.

-----------------

So, while I can vouch for the fact that they will do the work and put in the hours for a reasonable price, our personal interactions during the job prevent me from recommending them or ever considering using them again.
