Ceiling fan, exhaut fan

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - UPDATE: I have now had my bathroom fan re-installed by a professional technician after Neil put it in wrong and cut up my ceiling unnecessarily. He suggested the problem was the duct work. Turns out his fan installation was terrible--now corrected by a pro contractor with proof listed on the detailed invoice. I now have now had to pay twice plus have someone repair the large hole he left in my ceiling. He made many mistakes, overcharged me, did not troubleshoot, including with a ceiling fan he assembled wrong twice. He did not offer any refund or take responsibility for the fan--and I gave him the chance to.
IN REPLY to his first response, Neil did not provide any rates before booking. I will always ask and get a full estimate. Also, a detailed invoice was not provided at the time of completion but was provided the following evening. I also did not mention that after installing my ceiling fan, he checked the fan remote. It did not work. He checked the battery. Turns out after way too much time with poor troubleshooting, I took a look. The battery was simply protected in plastic and all he had to do was unwrap it. This has simply been a terrible experience overall.

WOULD NEVER USE HIM AGAIN.

ORIGINAL COMMENTS:

Neil is a nice guy. But he took a very long time to install a ceiling fan and remove and replace a bath ventilation fan (the bath fan had many difficulties, granted). While he knows electrical, I was disappointed in the efficiency of his work, his troubleshooting, as well as the total cost. Clean-up was not provided and it was very messy. He made several errors assembling the fan--did not consult instructions--and in my experience with contractors, did not work at a fair pace. I should have asked for his full charges up front because the final bill surprised him. Hire him for your straight forward needs. He has solid ratings. I guess my job was an exception.

Company Response

Thank you for your review. I appreciate the compliment . I am a nice guy ,but I am also very fair. Whether positive or negative - I always welcome peoples opinions to see their point of view - a great way for everyone to learn something. It is unfortunate that you were not happy with the work that we provided. I can assure you that in my many years of working in the industry - I have dealt with many simple as well as very complicated tasks/projects from installing fans to building homes or commercial buildings. In the world of construction, especially when altering or upgrading an existing structure, sometimes you run into obstacles. In your project, there was no trouble shooting - it was a fan installation - where it became difficult was uninstalling the existing one and matching old parameters to new ones. Your new fan installation had the issue of lining up with the ducting - these things happen. As far as costs go - I always give my rates before booking - as I did with you on the phone. In fact, because you were not happy with the complications of the fan installation - I had deducted material and time off your bill as a customer courtesy. As for clean up, I always provide that service except when clients advise me that they will do their own clean up, which was in your case. I did not consult instructions because I have installed fans many times. Installations vary to the degree of difficulty which determine my pace and the time it takes to complete a job. I wish you all the best and again, I thank you for your input.

Ceiling fan, exhaut fan

UPDATE TO MY REVIEW: As of today, I have had to have my bathroom fan re-installed by a professional technician after having to pay to have this company inspect my duct work as per Neil's suggestion. Turns out his fan installation was faulty and incomplete--with proof listed on the detailed invoice. They fixed it and it is working fine. I will also have to pay for the large hole he left in my ceiling, and that was also unnecessary. Some jobs go wrong, I get it. Nothing went right here. I will wait to see if Neil provides a refund for the faulty installation job. This has been an unnecessarily stressful experience. And to reply to his response, Neil did not provide any rates before booking. I will make sure to ask next time with other electricians, and get a full estimate. I don't really want any more excuses. What I want is a refund for services that wasted my time and money and left me with a huge mess.
