Joe is amazing. I called Snap Pest Control and described the situation we are encountering with a wood chewed window sill in our basement bathroom. I have seen this situation a few times in my career and could tell right away we were dealing with powder post beetles. Powder posts can surface it seems at any time and while they tend to be localized seem to appear out of thin air. Thus far I've noticed these beetles appear from baseboards,kitchen cabinets,window sills (bathroom basement window sills),and a custom hand rail. These beetles like large grains in wood like oak but somehow get into other woods as well. One should be careful about the wood they bring into their homes these days I guess.
