Rat Issue

Back in August of last year, I first noticed something jump off of the tall green compost bin in the garage. I let my father know who had bought some commercial-grade rat poison but never worried beyond that. Fast forward to December when things escalated and we suddenly started hearing scratching and gnawing sounds in the kitchen during the night. Shortly after, we started noticing bite marks on our smaller compost bin and eventually noticed a decently sized hole in an obscure part of the kickplate under the kitchen cupboard. Essentially, we had not one but had a few rats (as evidenced by the number and size of their droppings) came in from a hole in the garage. Even then, we were reluctant to call for help thinking we could handle it ourselves. We tried to use glue traps which ended up being totally useless.

We finally caved and started the hunt for who to call. I was this close to going with a big business competitor I had seen commercials for until I stumbled upon Snap Pest Control during a quick Google search for pest control in the area. I am a person who takes reviews seriously - many times reviews are written to give the honest critiques about a product or service, so it is even more surprising when there are so many reviews raving about it instead. And I could not be happier that we went with Snap Pest Control. I felt embarrassed and quite frankly terrified that we had let our rat issue get to this point, but after speaking to Joe during the initial consultation and until our final appointment which was earlier this month, he put many of my worries at rest as he had a solid plan in place. Within the first 2 weeks of Joe proceeding with his work and even until this point, we have not heard any noises or seen any more droppings. Thanks again for all your help Joe!

Company Response

Thank you for your review. This job was fairly straight forward in that it was based in the suburbs and entry was found via the garage door. Our brown suited friends had chewed a hole right through the drywall in a hidden corner and simply went into the basement. Had we been in Toronto where rats pop up through a sewer, or broken basement slabs, hidden behind a finished wall things would have been very different. The garage and basement were baited with an acute rodenticide which I know through experience that they will consume readily. We went with a tracking powder in the garage after every visit and when all signs of tracks were gone closed the access points. Be careful of using store bought baits on rats as they are just not acute enough and you will experience a horrid smell for 4 to 6 weeks if your lucky. Should a rat perish in an area where there is a steady moisture supply it can go on for a long time indeed. Joe
