Complete Heating & Air Conditioning System

We recently purchased a 22 year old home and needed to replace the existing a/c unit. With a limited budget after having just purchsed the home, we had to be cost conscious with our decision.

We received six quotes prior to making the decision to go with Convertible Air Conditioning. To be fair, most of the competing quotes were similar in price, however the deciding factor was the result of telling us something that we didn't want to hear: that if we didn't seriously consider replacing the furnace (probably the original one that came with the home) they didn't want to take our money.

We said that we couldn't afford to replace both at the same time so Marnie suggested taking down the model and serial number of the furnace and said she would call the manufacturer to confirm how old it was. Sure enough, the next day she called and let us know that it was the original furnace and then let us know what our options were.

Her honesty and the fact that she cared enough to verify the age of the furnace made our decision an easy one. And she walked us through the various financing programs that were avialable so that we could choose one that best fit our budget.

The end result is that they won our trust with an honest assessment of what had to be done, and not just what we wanted to hear. The work was done promptly, their installer was very helpful taking time to answer some of our questions, and kudos for caring enough to wear boot covers to keep our home clean.

Thanks for a job well done...

Furnace, AC and Tankless Hot water tank installation

I was recommended to Convertible Air from my neighbour who did an installation with them around 9 years ago. Our home needed everything and we didn't know who to trust. We had several quotes. Most sales people we met seemed to pressure us - this made us uneasy. When we met with the rep from Convertible Air they were the total opposite. They explained everything with ease, confidence and no pressure. They knew all about rebates and how the programs worked. Their price was very fair and they offered several different brands to choose from. We chose to have them do our job and are soooo glad we did. Their crew was amazing. Very clean, friendly and obviously had trememdous experience with installations. Our old furnace looked like it was taped together, when Dave was done, it was immaculate. I was so impressed that I brought in my other neighbours to see their work. Thank you for living up to your referral from my neighbour, I am grateful I found you. You did an excellent job. Many thanks, Jason from the Beaches

air conditioner

No pressure sales, very informative, good quality work, great prices. They showed us all the options. We talked about energy rebates, etc. We talked about all sorts of vendors, quality, styles, energy efficiency - they took the time to explain it all and allow us to decide. Soon after, it was installed - very good work overall.

Replace Air Conditioner

I'm going to make this relatively short because I am really upset
(a) they used a subcontractor to install the A/C (they say on their site they do not.) (b) A/C not installed properly - used WRONG FITTINGS, used FREON fittings for NEW REFRIGERANT - took the subcontractor couldn't figure it out, so it too the subcontractor's subcontractor 3 days to figure out and fix it - NO A/C during that June Heat Wave. (c) did not seal hole at all from outside of house to inside - water damage (d) told by Convertible to go through home insurance (e) insurance adjuster and contractor comes, says hole is 1 cause, but there is another source. called a plumber in (f) Convertible Air punctured the PVC waste pipe - my finished basement has water damage to the ceiling, drywall, moulding and laminate floors (g) All Convertible Air said is that they would pay the deductible and did not want to discuss it AT ALL - not even an apology, it was as if I was bothering him (h) I am left with a water damaged basement, I will lose my Claims Free Discount and an increase to my insurance premium.

New Air Conditioner Installation

We were searching for a new air conditioner and called quite a few companies. One stood out above them all, Convertible Air Systems in Mississauga. The sales guy was great, informed and simply put good at his job. What really got us was the price difference he offered for the product, a brand name product. The installation was fast and professional and the company offered numerous payment plans. So far we are very happy and would recommend the company.

Goodman A/C install

Folks,
please get EVERYTHING in writing with this company, particularly regarding what is and isn't covered in warranty. If you get your unit installed in spring time, TEST IT as soon as possible within the years warranty the next year, as this company has had a history of faulty installations leading to leaked/depleted freon, and once the year's past, you are completely out of luck. Chances are, you won't find out until you turn on your unit in the summer that a faulty install has led to the freon depletion.
Take explanations for unit failure from their technicians with a grain of salt - the technician who deemed our unit defective said he thought a lightning strike was the cause. (not accepting the obvious, which was the freon leak and subsequent compressor failure on start up) Interesting theory given the unit's location between houses and the fact its 2.5 feet tall!

Beware as well that the salesperson will likely NOT tell you about factory warranties and extended warranties, as to create additional revenue opportunities like the above once their own 1 year warranty expires.

They are also just as likely to play 'he said, she said' about the manufacturer's own claims, will cite possible 'service bulletins' and will hang you out to dry in terms of assistance with warranty follow up and assistance.

Overall, simply one of the worst big-ticket item vendors I've had the misfortune to deal with. And sad too, because a simple acknowledgement and apology for the situation would have sufficed,as well as some follow up calls during the entire process (i initiated all follow ups) but they've left me with such a sour taste I will do what I can to warn others in hopes of their avoiding my negative experience with them.

What could this company do to improve their services?
Communication and honesty and transparency about their services; willingness to admit issues with installation and reigning in technician's implausible explanations for obvious install and unit failure; upfront explanation of technical repair and get it in writing too.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Get everything in writing. Ask every angle of questioning pertaining to warranty and what is included. Present them with scenarios and ask/ write down their responses to what is covered. Consider alternate vendors or at least know you've been warned if things go south 1 year in with your unit.

Furnace, Air Conditioner and Air Cleaner

Our Family was in a bind and we were red tagged by the gas company left without heat. Convertible had a salesman come over right away and gave us a very fair price. They even had an emergency install team on their staff install the next day. We didn't even suffer the cold through the night because the salesman gave us 4 space heaters to use complimentary untill the job was done. Dave the installer was a pleasure to have in my home and definetly a professional. Nothing but good things with this company.. I highly recomment them.

Furnace & A/C Replacement

I was referred to Convertible Air by my neighbour who couldn't say enough about the company.
When I called for a quote, I was given lots of information about products and rebates available from the Government. I felt really good about the honest advice and fair pricing. I went with Convertible for the job and received an immaculate installation as promised. The installers were friendly, professional and got the job done in a day.
Now I can't say enough about Convertible Air!

Install High Efficiency Furnace plus A/C

1. Installation was performed by a sub-contractor not by Convertible Air. Sub was great but I didn't hire a sub, I hired Convertible Air.

2. A/C unit was AirEase, yes AirEase is owned by Lennox but if Lennox didn't feel that they should put their logo on it why should Converible Air cut and paste the Lennox logo into AirEase brochure they have on their website? The tape lines are so obvious. This just smacks of dishonesty. (I didn't notice this until after my purchase).

3. They never followed up to see if I was a satisfied customer.

4. Took repeated calls and 6 months to get the A/C cover.

I am not saying that they ripped me off, but when you pay top dollar you expect top service.
