The Cutting Edge Roofing

Rob rushed in to make repairs to a 3 year old roof that had been badly installed by another roofing company. The original installer stopped answering phone calls and has since disappeared. Fortunately I found Cutting Edge; Rob's quick response and professional crew saved me from a disaster. I'll never use any other roofer!

I would like to thank Robert and his crew for their great work on my roof. Complete roof was re-shingled, 6 new vents added and 2 turbine vents replaced along with other standard items. Robert and his crew took the time to do the job properly, and not rushing through like other roofing contractors. My new roof looks beautiful. There were some minor issues with the turbine vents but Robert addressed them promptly upon my call. This is exactly the kind of after sale service we are looking for. I would not hesitate to recommend Robert for any roof work.

We were alerted to roof deterioration by a neighbour in the late fall and checked here at HomeStars for local roofing contractors. Rob explained the value of purchasing quality roofing materials, quoted fairly, promised to fit us in before winter, and showed up weeks earlier than expected (they were very busy with some commercial work but there was a break in the bad weather just big enough to squeeze us in.

This review is long overdue but a must. Cutting Edge Roofing is amazing. They did a great job and were right on time. Clean-up afterwards was pristine. Robert made the whole process easy, explained everything thoroughly and treated us professionally while being down to earth. No doubts at all, 10/10 here.

Our block of 9 townhouses still had the original 1994 shingle roof. It
was starting to shed granules and curl. We agreed to get it all done at once with the same roofer.
We quoted 4 roofing companies. All the quotes were specified identically. All 4 companies sent
experienced salesmen.

We agreed we wanted the full monty – removing old shingles down to roof boards, repairing or replacing any rotten boards/plywood,
installing wall-to-wall Triflex underlay, then 3 ‘ of ice and water shield at all roof edges, replacing all vents and
flashings, and finishing with 30yr. Owens Corning architectural shingles. Also, each house had small shingled front and rear porch
roofs and also small ‘rooflets’ over the front and rear bay windows.

The 4 estimates had a surprisingly wide price range, but Cutting Edge was the best price.
In addition, Rob was very well informed, low key and didn’t try to pressure any owner.
We were unanimous deciding to go with Cutting Edge.
On the days they came they were very quick, thorough, and agreeable to talk to. The job was finished on time and on budget.
They did everything they’d quoted, which isn’t always the case with roofers.
They did an excellent clean up, no rusty nails left anywhere to puncture tires.

This was the 3rd roof I’ve bought, for 3 different houses and it was the best job
I’ve seen yet. No one’s perfect but I rate them a 9.9 on Homestars.

I had a pooling in the middle of the garage when I bought the house. From what I read and the shape of my house it wasn't a easy job to level the roof. Robert quote was one of the best but the way he explain what he will do matched with what I read on the web. They came did a good job but didn't succeed to make it level form the first try, but he came back when I called and did it himself in a Sunday. Very good job. Now I am happy, all the water is going away from the flat roof. Thank you!

Our neighbours negotiated to hire this company to replace the roofs on 9 freehold townhouses. The work was done quickly, professionally and at a reasonable price in the fall of 2013. So far, so good!

We decided to have our roof inspected after the neighbour in the townhouse next to us had a leak and found her section of roof was in bad shape. Robert took digital photos to show us what our roof looked like. He was friendly and professional in discussing our options. He clearly explained what the true warranties were on various shingle products and even let us know that our section of roof could probably wait until next year for replacement. We decided to go ahead with the project anyhow. After the job was complete, Robert came back to inspect it and to ensure that the ground around the house had been well cleared of roofing debris. This company was a pleasure to deal with, and Robert sincerely seemed to love his job, which was refreshing.

Our house is a releatively new build but the roofing contractor that installed our roof originally did a sup-par installation using the cheapest product out there. After 5 years, shingles were blowing off and needed replacement, after 8 years I needed a complete removal and replacement.

I called Robert's office and was told he was very busy but would come out ASAP to inspect the roof. He was here within a couple of days. He inspected the roof and left a quote and product brochures in the door without us (or our dogs) even noticing he had come. A few hours later Robert emailed me pictures of the roof. He gave options in the quote based on materials selected, prices for each and their associated warranties.

I decided to use their services and had Robert come over with samples of the chosen product, he left them with us to look at in various lighting to make sure we made a choice we were happy with.

On the day of installation, his crew arrived just after 7:30 and got to work immediately tearing off the old roof. By lunchtime they had already started installing the new roof. They had finished and cleaned up by shortly after 4:00, it was already starting to get dark.

The job looks wonderful, there was no garbage left behind, they ran their magnet around the back yard and sides of the house and I haven't found a single roofing nail there. Unfortunately, they forgot to magnet the driveway when they pulled their junk trailer out and I found at least 10 nails on the driveway over the next few days. Luckily I haven't had any punctures my tires (at least yet). That would be my only issue with the job Cutting Edge did for us.

Robert agreed to do the work on a handshake, didn't require a deposit or for us to sign anything beforehand, did the job and then mailed an invoice. Old school!

I would use them again and recommend them to anyone, My neighbour has already had Robert over to fix a slight issue with his roof.

Owner Rob and his team completed our row of townhomes in a few days and I am very happy with the results. He climbed his ladder to go on the roof to inspect and asess to provide an estimate. He also gets his hands dirty and is part of the team to replace the shingles on the roof. Rob thoroughly explained the process and and was available on site every day to answer questions. I highly recommend The Cutting Edge Roofing as they provide great customer service at reasonable prices.
