An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.
In November 2011 we experienced a severe wind and rain storm and our main floor skylight (25 years old) developed a slight leak.
We checked the telephone directory for someone licenced and experienced working with Velux skylights.
We located Skylights Unlimited and I researched the company on the Internet. I found several good independent reviews of the companies work and was impressed with the frankness and disclosure of your service policy, licencing and warranty clearly stated on the companies Internet web site.
We phoned Denis Charron and he attended our home the next day,on time. Denis was very knowledgeable about the existing skylight and upgrades incorporated in the replacement Velux skylight, such as the improved energy efficient "E" glass. Denis emailed me a quote the same day and we accepted the quote. In December your installers were on time, removed the old skylight, completed some minor preparations and repairs to the opening and installed a new Velux skylight in exactly the same location. You can not tell they were ever there. We find the room is much warmer than before and attribute this to the new superior quality of the replacement skylight.
Denis was very professional, knowledgeable and efficient. Your installers were courteous and respectful leaving our home, roof and grounds spotless upon completion of the replacement. Your office staff were prompt and helpful when contacted.
Denis made a special trip back to deliver us a new extended window crank later when we discovered the older one was not compatible with the new skylight.
It was a pleasure having our replacement skylight installed by your company. It is rare that a major job like this goes smoothly without issues for the home owner.
