New home build

Bought a new townhome from Richcraft and had nothing but trouble. The house has leaked every year since I purchased it. Richcraft blamed that on me saying it was ice damming, and that I should have removed the ice from the roof. I had to replace the roof after 3.5 years. When the shingles were taken off the roof, there was no ice and water shield under the shingles and the roofer told me that the shingles were older than the house. He said Richcraft leaves leftover shingles on the ground of a building site and then when they have a small build, they go and pick them up and use them years later. Since then, the water has been coming from the house next door. I had 3 water leaks in the basement, the first was filled with cement (that doesn't last), the next year apoxy was used and the third year it was polyurethane. Every time they showed up, they damaged something else. Had a problem with the dimmer switch in my dining room. That was replaced with one that had been recalled. I only found out after I had burnt my hand on the switch. When the electrician arrived to replace that one, he stepped on my dining room table with his boots on to take lights out of the chandelier and damaged my table top by taking 2 chunks of wood out of table. Richcraft said that I could not prove that. I told them that I lived alone and I would not damage my new tabletop by standing on it. I had pictures of the damaged table and workboot prints leading to the table. The workers cut my kitchen floor too short and glued a piece in with a dirty hand which showed up as a 3 foot dirty snake pattern in front of my cupboards. Richcraft would not fix it. Other major problems with the flooring was that the flooring itself was defective as yellow stains started appearing in my kitchen and half bath that looked like urine. Richcraft refused to replace the flooring so the flooring representative told me it was defective and Alexander flooring paid for the replacement. However, they used the Richcraft people and they took a large piece of ceramic out of the pedestal in my half bathroom and put it back after they filled the crack with cauking. I never received the upgraded underlay either, so if you bought upgraded underlay, pull up you air vent and check to see if it is what you paid for. Also, there was no insulation in the front closet as my water pipes froze and they were plastic so they had to open the closet twice due to leaks. Finally I paid out of pocket for foam spray insulation. I took them to small claims court to get back my money for the roof and the insulation and the maximum vent for the roof. My court date was scheduled when I was in the middle of chemotherapy for cancer which I probably got from the stress of trying to deal with these p*****, but my claim was thrown out as I did not get an inspection before buying a new house. I advised the Judge that an initial inspection would not have shown that the shingles were nailed directly to the wood and that the insulation was in the soffits. The judge didn't care. He referred to me by my last name and the Richcraft people received a salutation of Mr. I could elaborate further on problems encountered, but I think you get my drift. I would never buy another RIchcraft house and I would not refer them to anyone, least of all my worst enemy.
