Responsive Customer Service

A few days ago I posted a critical review of this company which I have asked Homestars to delete following helpful conversations with Pesticon staff which were very respectful and eased my concerns. I regret that I have been unable to delete the review myself and am hoping this edit will help in the meantime. I would work with this company again.

Company Response

Hello, after speaking with you about the service you received we deeply apologize for the technicians actions regarding the bathroom use.

Chemical wise; Lambda-cyhalothrin isn't a banned or restricted pesticide in Ontario for residential applications. It is the most commonly used pesticide. It also is the only provenly effective treatment for carpet beetles. Temprid SC is no longer available in Ontario. Temprid FX is the new label name for this product and does not have carpet beetles on its list of controllable insects.

Here at Pesticon we try to do our best with the chemicals available to us and we hope that the carpet beetles are eliminated.

Thank you.

Misled

I have had a carpet beetle problem for nearly 4 years and through several moves and have hired this company at least 3 times to try to eradicate them. I worry increasingly about my own pesticide exposure, living in small condo spaces, so when I have to resort to chemical treatments I’m very careful. This company (with the exception of my lst technician) has never told me what they are using. When I called this time I asked about Temprid SC and pressurized boric acid and was informed they had both. Today when I asked about the chemical he first reacted as if he had never heard of Temprid and I repeated it 3 times. Then he said something patronizing about how he asks his doctor for a certain treatment but it is the doctor who knows the best one. When pressed, he says it is Lamba, and by then it is time for me to leave. Later I looked up Lamba and read it is a chemical the Canadian government is recommending not be used in residential applications (paper dated June 2017) due to toxicity health risks. OMG, it’s already all over my home. Add to that the fact that my technician used my bathroom again without my permission (I’ll spare you the details but the evidence was there) and just added to my discomfort coming home. I know they have great ratings but I imagine the public just trusts them to use the safest available chemicals and for me, the trust is broken.
