Fence Replacement

After a bit of a slow start, the guys from Quality Restoration did an excellent job on removing the old fence and standing up a custom fence. Ended up going with a horizontal fence look and couldn't be happier with the end result. The job site was cleaned up to our satisfaction and we are now enjoying the new look to our backyard.

Repair and replace brick

Second time we’ve hired Doug Pearce through QR. First was to replace the brick at the top of our chimney a few years ago. Now we needed the brick at the bottom of the fireplace replaced. We hired Doug and his team again because we are very pleased with their work the first time and we weren’t disappointed; job was 10+. They are our go to company for brick work and won’t hesitate recommending them to friends and family.

Deck and masonry work

Many thanks to Doug and his team!!! We are super happy with our new deck. We had old deck which had to be removed. We also had some deteriorated bricks on the adjacent wall. I was trying to figure out how to schedule these works from different companies. Luckily I found Quality Restorations. They do both - masonry and deck construction. We worked with Doug to schedule both, price was reasonable, both teams were great - professional, accurate, making sure everything is done right and the backyard is clean after the work is done. We would highly recommend Quality Restorations. Thanks again.

I met Doug through Home Stars after a terrible encounter with a contractor who took my deposit and ran off.
Doug came to my rescue with a crew who redid my concrete walls of a century old house and rebuilt a porch pillar that collapsed. Then another crew came and rebuilt my entire porch in a very short time.
I would definitely recommend Quality Restorations who will treat you like a small town country neighbor!

New front porch

The team at Quality Restorations were a pleasure to work with and could not have been more professional. They were quick to respond from the start, addressed any setbacks right away, and coordinated seamlessly with my other contractors. The build staff was on time every day and kept the site clean. When we discovered that the brick pillar needed some repair work, the estimate was ready the next day. The mason completed the repair the following working day so work could continue on the porch. The build staff did a meticulous job, particularly on the Ipe porch and skirting. I appreciate it's not an easy material to work with especially in the winter. The quality of the work is really top notch.
I would definitely hire them for future projects and would recommend them to anyone looking for professional, responsive contractors.

Basement waterproofing and renovation

We hired Quality Restorations after interviewing several contractors. We wanted to finish the basement of our 95-yr-old house, which required lots of work - waterproofing, plumbing, wiring, framing, concrete pouring - and re-grading the backyard to prevent water from pooling around the basement steps and walls. Doug and the workers he hired were professional and hard-working. Doug kept great records and was available to re-assess our plans when appropriate, listened to and addressed our concerns, and kept everyone on the same page as the job progressed. A consistent crew of experienced builders did good quality work for us, re-building the bathroom, insulating, framing, dry walling, and fixing the concrete floors. They also worked well with the plumbers, electricians, and HVAC who came and went as needed. The cold weather arrived before our exterior concrete steps could set in some places, and the Quality Restorations crew committed to returning to fix it when its warm enough. We hope to engage their services again when we are ready to build out our back porch and replace the floors inside.

Replacement of Collapsing Retaining Wall

One of the walls bordering our carport was in a long-term slow collapse and needed to be replaced; they were probably over 30 years old. Doug offered a good and timely quote to match what we were looking for, and the team that did the work (tearing out the old wall, removing the stump of a small tree and another plans that had grown into and through the wooden slats of the wall, replacing the wall, etc.) in a very efficient and quick few hours. The work was well done and looks great.

Porch Repair

We were given some things to do for our insurance and our porch was on the list. It was noted that we needed a hand rail and that we should address the slope of the main deck.
Our neighbors were having their porch renovated by Quality renovations and since we use our porch as a second sitting room we wanted someone we could trust, and they recommended them. We contacted Doug and discussed the request by the insurance company and he told us that it was no problem and an easy job, that overall the porch looked okay. We took him at his word.
Over $5,000.00 later, our beloved porch had a cosmetic upgrade with no hand railing and the slope was not repaired. When trying to discuss this, we were not listened to, interrupted and told we needed to pay for the work done. We signed a vague agreement, and he hid behind that and not his word. We are extremely disappointed in our needs being ignored and having spent money for cosmetic changes that were not immediately needed.
The customer service and the communication are non existent.
A final note: we had to spend an afternoon of our own time, because skirting was applied all the way around the porch, leaving no access to our lawn mower and other gardening needs.

$5,500.00

I am very sorry that you have felt the need to express your opinions here. You could have just as easily called and sorted this out.

What you have said is completely misleading to the general public and is not actually based in fact.

Here is the exact scope of work that you agreed to in a signed contract that is not vague whatsoever:

Supply and install new 1’x4” T&G pine decking on the front porch
Build new stairs with 5/4ths x 6” Sienna Pressure Treated decking
Reuse and install existing handrails
Supply and install new 5/4ths pressure treated decking on the storage box -
Caulk rowel joints and repaint the contour flashings on the porch roof
Complete site clean up and disposal of waste materials
Tuckpoint a few mortar joints on the front pillar

You were advised before and during the job that if you wanted to remove the frame below the porch in order to remove the slope it would be at an added cost. That is exactly what we did for your neighbour who ,as you have stated, recommended us very highly and that cost was clearly priced out in a contract for him beforehand. In your case, you specifically made the decision to NOT replace the frame which would have made the porch perfectly level.

Had you asked for an access door under the porch beforehand we would have installed it for you.

You also asked if we could find the large Keystone Ballustrades to match your existing handrails for the handrail going down the stairs and we could not find anything to match so I advised that you go to New Canadian Lumber to look at Colonial handrails and turned traditional wood handrails which you selected. We then purchased and installed them. I gave it to you at cost ( $250 in materials and $150 to install) as a new handrail was not included in the original contract for the very reason that I was going to look for the Keystone Ballustrades at your request

You finally decided that were entitled to a new handrail without paying for it. There was no “vague agreement” that we “hid” behind

A note to the reader: We have installed hundreds of porches and decks over the years all over the GTA and we always are responsive to whatever the client wants and at very competitive rates.
