Plumbing, Toilet Leak

I had a minor leak in my condo's toilet. Water was running after flushing - nothing to panic about one would think. The condo management recommends a specific company to residents. Unfortunately, their plumber didn't show up. I was in rush and was about to lose my patience. So I called priority plumbing. The Customer Service is professional, the technician came within an hour as I hoped for. Upon his arrival, I was about to become happy again, as my meeting around 3pm could actually happen on time. I explained the technician that I am in hurry and have a quite limited time frame. However, he was very thorough in his explanations how my toilet functions. He dedicated his and my time to draw my attention to the valves that I had no idea about. The situation was almost comical, I was literally counting minutes as they passed by. We took a look at the kitchen - just in case, so I don't have problems in the future should I have a flooding damage that needs to be claimed. The guy was professional. Although we spent 30 minutes of my time on all kinds of issues, it took around a minute to diagnose the actual problem with the toilet.

My tenant came and asked me why we were trying to fix the toilet somewhere around kitchen drain pipes... I told him that this plumber is highly competent - a leaking toilet could potentially leak to my kitchen pipes, still not sure if the tenant took the words seriously.

The plumber left me alone in the condo for around 10 minutes to write down the options for me, as he explained. Those ten minutes were probably the longest in my life, since I was observing my time passing. He came back with around 5 options. It was comical enough, but the plumber was professional, so he attempted to explain me what else their company does and which services they offer BEFORE reading me the options. I would have started to laugh, if I hadn't been in rush for quite a while by then. Almost losing my temper I actually asked him to proceed with options. The plumber professionally advised me that a number of options actually address the issue thoroughly, i.e, replacing the toilet as a whole. Thanks god he didn't suggest changing the condo because of the toilet leak.
We narrowed down the options to the amount of CAD$350 or so. I was confused by then and thought that I want this to end. After brief negotiations he explained me that he cannot change the price, he then changed the price twice just to help me and we got down to CAD$250 or so. It was so entertaining, one could think that this is kind of a show and I am actually on TV. However, I told this plumbing professional that I pay CAD$225 (everything included), or we say good bye to each other. He did not agree.

I paid CAD$50 for the service assessment. When I mentioned that should the other company confirm that the assessment is wrong, I will call my lawyer, the plumbing professional became more specific and actually wrote down what happened and needs to be done. Based on the assessments I ordered the service from other company for tomorrow. They advised me that the issue can be addressed for around CAD$150. They also told me that should I be in the condo and call them from there, they could explain me over the phone what to do, so it could cost CAD$5.

I am going to meet the guys tomorrow, and should they do what is promised, I will consider them to be my first choice in case of any plumbing emergency.
Overall, if you have a minor issue and have ample of time call priority plumbing, they will deliver first class comedy club experience for CAD$50, which is fairly priced. Otherwise, I would recommend using other service.

Thank you.

UPDATE: the other company came on time and replaced a tank flapper (CAD$5-20 part). CAD$140 work total.

Approximate cost of services:
$50.00

Company Response

Dear Eugene, We always advise a minimum of 2 hours to deal with our plumber. We follow certain protocols that may take an extra 15-20 minutes. This is intended to ensure that the problem is fixed right the first time. Our goal is to provide consistent high quality service for all of our customers. This is why we always give the price before we start any work. Thank you for recognizing our professionalism 3 times in your review! If we can ever be of service we are always here to help in anyway we can.

Kindest Regards,
Priority Plumbing
