Service

Service is bad , All I will say is there is no more good craftsmen ship anymore when they come and fix something it's a Butch job . They fix it so they get the inspection form signed. They cut lots of corners. Not very impressed.

Great builder that communicates well

I have bought from half a dozen builders over the last 10 years and none of them come close to Mattamy. They built a great home and their team was incredible with helping out and communicating throughout the process.

The PDI was a week before closing the place looked great. They fixed up a couple minor issue prior to moving in. The place was so clean and ready to move in. At the 30 day PDI meeting, they addressed all issues found after I moved in.

I can't say enough about how their team communicates and how supportive they are.

Crack in the Stuttco wall

I do have lot of problems with Mattamy Homes. Beware and conscious about the warranty information, they are trickster. They took money for the elevation, but absurd work. A big cleavage.

And the reply from them
Good Afternoon,

As per our phone conversation in regards to and inspection done in August 25th 2016 for the crack at your hardie boards. This was deemed as No Action as it was not covered in the 2nd year warranty.

If you need more information on what is covered under the 7 year warranty as you have passed the deadline to submit for your 2nd Year End form which would have been September 11th 2016 as your home closed on September 11th 2014. Which would mean that you are passed your Year End. Please see attached CCP form sent to you and your lawyer at time of closing with your closing date.

If you are first time home buyer you may miss up ending up paying more money with this builder.
They don't own their mistake. They talk about rules.

Building quality is declining. Bad experience with Mattamy. You will get a crappy home if this is what u want. Customer Service is OK. The warranty service technician was rude and breach of privacy.

Warranty Care with Mattamy Homes in Ottawa

We purchased our home through Monarch and had stellar warranty/customer service care through them. Then Monarch sold to Mattamy and here is where I started beating my head against the wall. I can't for the life of me get anyone at the Warranty office to pick up the phone, return voice mail messages or respond to email messages. I have on 2 occasions been scheduled for warranty work and the trades don't show up which isn't bad enough but it also means I had to take a day off work for no reason.

And to add insult to injury, we have a leak in the basement that I have contacted them numerous times since June about with again no returning of phone calls or emails until I reported it to Tarion. Low and behold I get their attention but it was only to see that it is actually 2 cracks in the foundation that needs to be fixed. Radio silence again as I am waiting for them to call and tell me when they will have someone out to fix.

I called their main office here in Ottawa hoping to find someone that cares on how their customers are being treated but instead was given the Customer Service number to call.

I would seriously reconsider if you are considering building with Mattamy. The trades who actually do the warranty are awesome but the office that as a customer that I have to contact is horrible in customer care.

Hardwood Floor

Hardwood floor of my house started squeaky noise after 6 month taking the possession from Mattamy. During delivery inspection Mattamy representative told me that floor may make noise during the first year but eventually it will go as the new house settles down. Unfortunately I listened to them and waited more than a year to complain about the problem. They did not do anything since the warranty has expired. My advise for new home owner if you buy home from Mattamy and hear a little noise in your hardwood floor, get it fixed right away. Otherwise you have to pay it from your pocket.

Mattamy Wildflowers Kitchener

The quality of materials and workmanship is horrendous. After 2 years of vacuuming, we still fill our vacuum with carpet fluff- that's how cheap it is! Poor installation of tiles...uneven so there is a space between tile and hardwood. They forgot to seal a roof vent so water came in our home. The den doors have plastic stuck in the window pains and paint on the glass. You name it, it's cheap. They came to repair stuff but only made it worse so we fix everything ourselves. We are so disappointed with Mattamy.

Kitchener Wildflower

- Poor floor work at ground level and upper level, even when kids walk feels like roof is going to collapse, no padding under carpet and when you walk feels like wood is popping out.
- Floor tiles are shaking and uneven all in the Kitchen.
- Rusty mirror (in less than 6 months after moving),
- Cracked dry-walls
- Very uneven grading in the backyard
- Answer for each complain is, please wait till one year, you still have guarantee, so don't worry
- Never go for their standard package because material is so cheap and so poor. They also trick you when you go for an upgrade, they want charge the difference from standard to upgrade package, but will charge you the full amount for upgrade, means you already paid for the standard but wont get anything.

Brampton New Home

Although Mattamy finished the work on time but there were so many unfinished jobs and even after 1 year 4 month of our moving in, backyard is still mess , some wet patches in the basement, Lot of cracks in the basement floors., floors are squeaky under the carpet. If I call Tarion for inspection they will charge $280+ and if they think it is not covered under the warranty, I will have to pay it from my pocket, that's on top of around $1000 we already paid to Tarion in the beginning.

I have no complaint about this company, Even our closing day was delayed. They were trying their best to stick to the closing day...
There are things like weather that they can not control.
In term of workmanship and quality, I do think that they have done a really good job. I am very surprised to hear the comments about poor quality and garbage materials that they are using.
My experience with Mattamy Home is a much pleasant one compared to Fieldgate homes, our old house. There is no questions about some of the defects we have to deal with. It is not uncommon for a newly built house. My friend who had hired a builder to custom built his house in North York, he has to deal with a long list of defects and his construction cost is keep going up just by fixing defects.
For the Decor center, Mattamy home has a very informative department to help you design your house, unfortunately, the cost are very expensive and there is no discount on anything you do even they do not have to install the standard materials. The staff there really takes their time to help you sort out the colour and design
