Hot water tank installation and boiler clean out

I was quoted on a straight-forward hot water tank install. The tank went in smoothly, but when it was turned on water started dripping from the relief valve threads. The installers were not sure why it was doing this, but thought it might be a defective tank so installed another, which was good of them. Surprisingly the new tank was leaking too! Their suggestion was to try a third tank, but that it would be the next day before they could get another. Well before they could come back, the dripping started to slow down and eventually stopped (except for the occasional drip on a major reheat cycle). This is where I would say their service was relatively poor. Rather than investigate the issue, they left it as is. Frustrated I did a little research on my own and found that it could be due high water pressure. So using a $10 water pressure gauge, which they claimed they don't have, I found that my water pressure is marginally higher than the norm. I'm not sure why they wouldn't have checked this themselves, but they said it is relatively uncommon in Toronto. When I raised the issue with them they said I would need to call a plumber to resolve the high water pressure issue since they aren't licensed plumbers themselves. The kicker is the hot water tank has a really good warranty but it does not apply if the tank is not installed properly including with high water pressure. While I can appreciate this issue from their side, I know many companies strive to provide very high levels of customer service. I would say in this case, they could have done more to help resolve the issue, especially considering it was due to something they overlooked as part of their install. Instead they left me to resolve the issue myself. Since they didn't even suggest a plumber, if anyone knows one let me know since now I need to find someone to repair my brand new hot water tank installation.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,600.00

Company Response

We do the best work and give the best solutions. There are plumbers that we suggest always. I can appreciate the frustration with the delay, but again we did our best to resolve this issue and offer the best advice. There is nothing wrong with the tank or the installation of the tank. We will always honour the warranty on our equipment as stated on the contract.
