moving of my appartment

I booked moving from Francis movers because i saw one of their fliers in my mail box. But I was still apprehensive about trusting movers as I heard many horror stories on the news. Over the phone Francis Told me that the move would take seven hours with his three men, but it actually only took 6.5 hours. Danny, the driver, and his crew were very gentle and efficient with my belongings. They were very pleasant and knowledgeable about moving, they knew how to perform their jobs well. From knowing tricks on how to keep doors open, to using the dolly with my piano, through and through, the team showed professionalism and tact. I would definitely recommend this team from Francis Movers to move anyone who is not sure if they can trust movers.

Excellent movers

I got Francis's contact from a family member who was very satisfied with their services a couple years ago when I moved. I was so happy with their service that I've since recommended them to several other people. Always professional and careful with the move.

Moving

I have used Francis Movers multiple times over the past few years. They are always the best price, good movers that work hard, always on time. They never nickel and dime with extra charges. I am a real estate agent and also refer them all the time to my clients.

House Move

Used them when moved to our new house.

The movers worked hard but unfortunately scratched and broke a few items.

I am not sure that we will use them again

Used for several moves

I have used the services of Francis Movers several times over the course of the past 15 years and found them to be incredibly affordable, reliable and contentious. I have recommended them to friends, co-workers and extended family because they have always sent individuals who took care with my belongings and were fast at their job. They have never let me down always showing up on time and completing the move in the time frame expected. Knowing I can always count on Francis Movers takes a lot of the stress out of moving day. Our last move was out of the city but I know I will call them again because I can count on the level of service I will receive.

Move into storage from 4 bedroom house

I was referred to Francis by a cousin who reported a great experience with the company. We used the packing service (3 women @ $105 per hour) the day prior to the big move and were very impressed. They took pride in their work and worked efficiently, treating the household goods as they would their own.

Different story for the movers though, unfortunately...

Our move was scheduled to start on 9am. At 945 AM my wife and I became concerned and called the company, only to be told that the movers were on route. At 10:00, still no movers, so we called again, and we were told that the movers got lost. Finally, after providing the driver with directions, the movers arrived at 10:15 AM.

When confronted about this later, Mr. Francis made excuse after excuse for inexcusible behaviour and unprofessionalism. He told me that our house is in a new subdivision (it's 3 years old on an assumed street) and that the old Perly's map that the driver was using didn't have our address listed. I would have expected a phone call from the company before 9 AM if directions were needed. Moreover, the route to my house should have been well mapped out ahead of time, given our move was booked 1.5 months in advance.

The movers started out moving our belongings rather efficiently, especially since all items were professionally packed and I had pre-disassembled the office unit and bedframes. However, 2 hours into the job things slowed down tremendously. Only 1 of the 3 movers was seen doing any work. If you don't mind paying your movers for smoke breaks every half hour, this might be the company for you.

On top of this all, the movers ran out of packing tape (to wrap blankets over some of the larger items like couch and console table), and ran out of plastic wrap. In my estimation, the move could have been completed at least 1.5 hrs earlier than it actually took.

If you look under the negative reviews in this section at the "company's" response, you'll start to get a pretty good sense that Mr. Francis will never take any accountability and is a man who will perpetually make excuses to avoid responsibility.

Mr. Francis will probably write a story about how it takes longer to wrap the furniture carefully and blanket the larger items for protection, but this isn't the point. I appreciated the care the movers took with my belongings, and I'm fairly certain all of my belongings made it into storage in one piece, but wasted time on my dollar is unacceptable.

Mr. Francis, notorious for his excuses, told me that I was rather lucky that the movers came at all for my move, as it was hot outside, and curiously, if I had lived in Europe the movers would have refused to work on a day like the one we had (it was average summer Toronto weather at approx 28 degrees celcius, and the AC was running the whole time inside). I expect workers to take breaks when needed....WHEN THEY ARE WORKING. But again, it was only one guy doing, one guy smoking, and the other "packing" the truck most of the time.

When I asked for Mr. Francis to take an hour off of my bill, he flat out refused and had no appology for the fact that the movers ran out of tape and simply waited for me to go to the dollar store to pick up some more packing tape before they recommenced any "work". However, once at the storage unit, he finally agreed to comp us the rental of the 10 blankets used to cover our furniture (at $5 a piece/month).

Company Response

Hi, we apologize for being late.

yes we probably could have rammed all your furniture and boxes into the truck and ran and threw them into storage to save you 1.5 hours but moving takes time unless your willing to sacrifice the quality of workmanship.
Also keep in mind you have a 4 bedroom home. When working for 6-13 hours the men need to take breaks. You need to understand that we are only human and everyone deserves a break especially doing manual labor.

Blankets cost $25/blanket bran new. 10 blankets costs us $250.

7 point move

this company is excellent! They even moved a 3000 pound snooker table without a hitch! The movers were exceptional - polite, imtelligent, and very careful with all our furniture. There was not a mark on any item. The move took 3 men on one truck and 2 men on a smaller truck. We downsized from a large Toronto home to a condo, moved most furniture to a permanent home in Algonquin (270 kms north), made two pick ups from a storage facility, and picked up the snooker table in Brantford.
I would highly recommend them!

hello Matthew

I just wanted to write a quick message to tell you that the move on Friday went without a hitch!! your crew were absolutely AMAZING and so kind and efficient ... and FAST! ... I have to say that this move was THE BEST that we have ever experienced! Cost-wise, service-wise, efficiency-wise, the move just could not have been better!
We have experienced some pretty horrendous previous moves, and so any thought of moving always brings back these awful memories, so, if and when the occassion should arise again, for sure I will be contacting 'Francis Movers' ... and will certainly pass on your name to any friends and contacts who may be moving ...

I am very pleased with the movers who came to help me moved. They were pleasant and courteous. They were very careful with moving and stacking the boxes to make sure all were well taken care of. It was a very pleasant experience.
I will recommend your company to my friends and my Real Estate Agent and her company.
