Roofing Issue

2019 hired this company to install our new roof. Noticed issues right away. Notified them and they advised it would resolve itself. Now, less than 1.5 years later they refuse to correct the issue they advised would resolve itself. They expect us to pay another $1,500.00 to fix a problem that should have been addressed in the first place. They also left us with rusted flashing they should have advised in 2019 us to replace. Terrible service.

Approximate cost of services:
$6,000.00

Company Response

Stewart Roofing Ltd is a family run business which has had the privilege of servicing Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley for over 30 years because of our commitment to quality and customer service.

After installing this new roof in late November 2019, our client observed how the shingles did not appear to be laying flat. A common observation for Architectural shingles applied this time of year. We suggested to our client to wait until the coming of warmer temperatures the following spring to let the shingles relax, settle down and seal together and if still unsatisfied with the shingle aesthetics we would be happy to instigate a manufacturer warranty claim on our clients behalf. Warranties were registered contract paid and we had not heard back from this client until last week nearly two years later.

This current communication referred to the development of a slight depression which has now appeared on a lower canopy roof deck two years after the completion of the roof installation. Immediate response and inspection by qualified Stewart Roofing inspection personnel confirmed a very slight depression but no truss or deck instability. It would appear to be a slight depression due to truss warping, possibly in connection to snow load. The cost to open up the roof for an internal roof deck inspection involved, taking off the shingles, plywood, truss releveling then deck reassembly, application of synthetic underlayment, metal drip edge installation followed by new shingle application was quoted to the client.
It is important to note that the development for this structural repair is in no way connected to the initial roof application or roof installation contract. If the client still has any shingle settling concerns we would still be happy to assist the client in starting a manufacturer warranty claim.

We at Stewart Roofing Ltd deeply regret that this client is not content with our inspection and response, however we remain as always committed to our thousands of satisfied clients
