Local animal control (who do not deal with wildlife) recommended OWLS> A juvenile raccoon had been lodged high in a tree in our backyard for three days and nights and attempts to lure it down with food on the ground had failed. OWLS arrived promptly, used a ladder to get a better view of the poor guy through the tree canopy and after studying it concluded a)it had likely been poisoned b) was on the brink of death. They advised leaving nestled in peace in a triangle of limbs until it passed (within 24 hours) and offered to come back and remove the corpse. Compassionate, caring men: highly recommended.
