I always tell contractors I'm going to review them on Homestars, but I never do. I'm making an exception for J Spec Roofing. I cannot say enough good things about Justin, Jason and their crew. These are professional, hardworking guys who go the extra mile and then some. J Spec did a major roof overhaul on our 120 year-old house during the spring and summer of 2016. The works: new flat roof, new shingles on the sloped roof, new metal siding around the rooftop dormer, new skylights, new eavestrough, and the piece de resistance, a new cedar rooftop deck. Justin was knowledgeable, upfront and honest in quoting the job, talking us through all our options and working with us to execute our vision for the project. Throughout the process, J Spec kept us involved down to the smallest detail. Even if it was just a subtle placement of deck fencing, they checked with us. Justin and Jason are very much of the "measure twice, cut once" school of construction, and their pride of workmanship shines through in the finished product; watertight, meticulous and sharp as all get-out. When unexpected issues cropped up -- as they tend to do in an older house -- Justin and Jason went out of their way to address them. One example: the crew found wood rot and shoddy construction below the shingles of the dormer, and ended up having to totally reframe the trusses to make it structurally sound. Justin and Jason made sure the extra work got done quickly, and charged only the material costs and the hourly costs for their crew, no added mark up. Solid operators all around. Bottom line: I would highly recommend J Spec for their professionalism, competitive pricing, and stellar work. Did I mention all the compliments I'm getting on our awesome new deck?
