First Review

2.8/10

After 10years of begging I finally convinced my husband to renovate our main floor and put in hardwood. We completely gutted the main floor which consisted of a bathroom, kitchen, living & dining room, and the entrance. We purchased our flooring from Rowan and had a contractor install it. Within six months the finish started to peel on one of the boards, we thought bad board, the over the next six months we noticed more. We called, it took a month to get some one in to see it, then another six months of back and forth, we'll replace the bad boards, sorry the boards we have are the right ones, etc. The run around, finally when we threaten to take out full page ads we get action. The manufacture is called and a meeting is schedulled, they don't show up on time! We reschedule, they show up on time, the manufacture rep is friendly, he acknowledges that we have taken care of the floor properly and that the damage is not from water. I feel better, finally this will be fixed. We hear nothing for a month, finally I get a letter, it is our fault because without proper finish water damages wood and we must have let water sit on the floor. During all this the Rowan Rep is unsupportative! What did I learn, Superior HardWood Floors have an inferior finish, and Rowan Hardwood Floors does not support the products that they sell.

Company Response

Finish was indeed peeling off the edges of this prefinished maple floor in several specific locations where the floor had been repeatedly wetted, including under a footwear mat, by a leaking patio door, in front of the kitchen sink and the one time location of a planter. Water and wood do not mix. Keep in mind that repeated wetting of wood is called 'rot', and it will turn black eventually. Hardwood Floor warranties do not cover any water or moisture related damage.
