10/10

Builder’s window won’t last. This is not a news to all homeowners. We joined most of the homeowners seeking for a good company to replace our windows in spring 2015. Here is our story. We started off in HomeStars looking for companies will service Markham area. We then made some phone calls and meet with the sales representative at our home. We basically look at a few things. Is the person on time with our appointment? If not, is there a phone call to explain why? How logical in answering our questions/concerns? How much he knows his product? How much time he is willing to spend with us in the appointment and how sincere (or pushy) he wants to close the deal? We called to over 10 companies. Some didn’t reply back and most did. After the first round of meetings with all those shows up, we narrowed down to 5 companies. I made another round of appointments with each of them in their office to see their windows (and their office). After this round we have 2 companies on my list. Then we have some more questions/concern and would like their expert advices. Alan from Eco Choice, come again with his installer, Neon, trying to solve my concern on site rather than over the phone. We are much appreciated as we haven’t say yes to them to have the windows replaced by them but they have made an extra trip to come. We put the project aside and let the thoughts sink in for a bit. By the time we have a decision it was already fall and we didn’t want to have the installation done when the weather is cold. We have decided to go with Eco Choice. In terms of price, they are not the highest and not the lowest. I emailed Alan the situation and proposed to resume the project in spring this year. Alan replied politely and we contacted early this year to sign the document and decided on the installation date. Before the installation date their office proactively contacted us to reconfirm a few things. This shows they are serious in every step of the process, and are doing what is needed to avoid potential issues. Finally the installation date comes. It was scheduled for 3 days but the installer said 2 days should be enough. We are replacing all 44 windows in the house, plus a patio sliding door (the way I count the window is one glass panel is one window). Yes, they finished the job in 2 days but I didn’t find they are rushing to finish the job. The crew worked quietly and politely. No smoking in the house. Actually I didn’t see them smoke at all. They clean up inside and outside of the house. Of course you cannot expect the clean job is spotless but they are taking the time needed rather than rushing through it. Problem does arise and sometime this is unavoidable. What important is not the problem itself but the willingness of how one wants to rectify the problem and his attitude towards it. The installer, Neon, has demonstrated the attributes a responsible install has. You will find a lot of companies in the replacement window business and they all rated high in HomeStars. Which one is good? Picking one of them may looks like trying your luck. I am sure there are other companies are as good as Eco Choice (or may be better). I have gone through the process and have a solid proof that Eco Choice really works. For warranty work. I can’t tell you. We don’t have one yet and hope we don’t need one. Having Eco Choice to replace your windows is not trying your luck. You will be another happy customer.
