Ideal stairs came to our home because we requires a brand new staircase as ours was falling apart due to age. They were a little slow initially starting the job but once on site the men from their team worked hard for three days replacing and staining our new stairs. The finished product is beautiful and safe. The team was creative about staggering their work in order to allow us the ability to go upstairs each night as that is where our bedrooms and bathroom are located. The team was clean and polite while at our home. I would definitely recommend them.

Mark and his crew came to our home to update and rewire our entire basement. Mark and his crew were always on time and friendly when in our home. Mark was always responsive to our calls and emails and responded to us late at night and on weekends. Mark was patient around the delays our renovations caused and was always understanding and accommodating. Mark was very knowledgable about our home and recognized that we had asbestos behind our electrical panel (asbestos that was not realized by any other professionals that were in our home.) Mark recommended a company to come out to remove it for a very resonable price. Mark also recommended a plumber for us who did incredible work for a resonable price. I would absolutely recommend Mark and his team for my electrical needs again, wonderful company to work with.

Dustin came to our home at our request to build us a new front porch and frame our basement. He was always on time, very professional, extremely knowledgable and creative with our projects and listened and incorporated our preferences. Dustin was patient as our home was under a lot of renovations and he had to delay projects and work around other professionals. He always arrived with a smile on his face ready to work. I have recommended Dustin to my friends and family who are looking for a great carpenter and I will continue to do so I a firmly believe in the work this man accomplishes. We will also be looking to hire Dustin again for future carpentry projects that we are going to be doing.

We hired Navin to do some general repairs, foundation repair and deck repair at our home. Initially he presented as kind and helpful always responsive to calls, texts and emails. Over the course of the repair his quotes continued to get higher and each new issue he presented as more serious than the next, often suggesting the repairs were maybe more than the house was worth and maybe we should sell. (This after knowing we were new to home ownership and had a limited budget). Concerned for our home we sought quotes from other professionals who assured us most of the things Navin said needed to be repaired did not or not to the extreme in which Navin had suggested. The other professionals also offered quotes that were less than half the cost. We then spoke to Navin about this. At which point he became reactive, rude and in responsive to texts and calls and was then subsequently fired. We followed his cancelation policy and put it in writing. Navin then began to threaten legal action for cancelling his services and then kept thousands of dollars of our deposit for "consultation fees" which were never listed on the signed quotes he provided us. He never offered the same explanation twice for this. The first explanation as that the consultation fees were free as long as we used his service but since we fired him he felt it was his right to charge us. The second explanation was that they were always built into the price. He also took money for the roadway deposit in amount of 450$ which was paid to the city of Oshawa. When we tried to contact him due to not being able to get our money back from the city and requesting he write a letter to release it to us, he never responded putting us an addition 450$ out of money and making himself a total of 900$ from a roadway deposit( 450$ from our deposit and 450$ returned from the city) I would never recommend this company simply due to the poor professionalism that was demonstrated.

Company Response

This is Navin owner of DB Renovation and Aluminum Inc. I'm just responding to the review that Amanda Londry has written saying that my company was taking advantage of new homeowners. My company was taking the right steps to make sure that the foundation and footings work was replaced and not repaired. There was two steps to Amanda's project. when we started to escavate we found additional foundation problems I spoke to Amanda about the problem and how much it would cost she then started to take quotes from other company's while work was still going on because she didn't have the money to replace it Then her father was very abusive and threatening towards me because I told him if the project is going to be cancelled then they will have to pay for the material, labor for the workers, equipment and for my time that was invested with meetings with client and engineer visit's. The work that DB Renovation and Aluminum Inc was suppose to do at 313 Athol st was not what the other companies where quoting for. The engineer did mention to Amanda on the very first visit to the site that we can either repair or replace she then said that she want to replace the foundation and footings. All decisions where made by Amanda and signed by Amanda my company never forced her or any client to do things that they don't want. I did receive an email on March 1st 2016 from Amanda about the deposit at the city and responded on March 2nd 2016 saying that I will write authorization for her to get her money. I can't believe that Amanda is writing a review after almost a year since this happened. She can't say that I was rude to her I did everything the professional and legal way she is the one who was unprofessional, and for the $160,000 that she is saying is wrong we have documents stating with the additional cost was $118,000. Thanks
