1/10

We hired Multicity to move our belongings and 1 car from Ontario to BC with a full pack and unpack. I can not imagine any reviewer giving this company 10 because in our case, the moving experience was awful. We had these problems: The packer/movers didn't use moving blankets on all the furniture and items, and some were damaged. In some cases they used our own blankets (and a pillow!) to wrap items to be shipped. They also ran out of boxes and started filling random bins etc. that we had already packed ourselves. They promised "door to door" delivery of the car. This was an empty promise, as they later revealed they could only deliver to car dealerships. We paid ahead of time for this service, so had to go out of our way to arrange delivery. Our actual shipping weight was 1000 lbs (and thus $1000) over our quoted weight. Whether or not the quote was purposely low to secure business or if there was a problem with the weigh-in is unknown. The unpack was sloppy and unprofessional. Many items were thrown into closets or on the floor. The movers complained and seemed to be inconvenienced by having to unpack. The unpackers did not seem to know anything about the "itemized list" touted on the website, and instead insisted that we open every single box as it came in the door so we could tell them where to put its contents. Dealing with most of the company representatives was difficult. Our calls were returned after many days, or in most cases, not at all. The company needed constant motivation and reminders to provide even the most basic customer service. Since we made a claim on damaged items, we must continue this ordeal. So far Multicity is more than a week late in getting back to us on the claim. Multicity failed in almost all respects to provide the services expected of a competent moving company. I would not recommend this company to anyone for any kind of move.

Approximate cost of services:
$7,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Multicity should come prepared with enough boxes and moving blankets to complete a move to avoid using the home owner's. They should endeavor to quote realistic shipping weights. They should try to be upfront and truthful about their limitations on car shipping. They should shedule their unpackers so that they have enough time and people to properly unpack. The "itemized list" that was made during the move out should be available on the other end. They should try to return customer calls. Scheduling a quote or move-in day should not take several days.
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
I would not use this company's services again.
