10/10

After meeting with several other roofing companies and talking to their reps we ended up settling on Twin Peaks Roofing for their knowledge, price and professionalism. Other roofers seemed to cut corners and suggest that we didn't need any waterproof membrane under the shingles because the pitch of our roof was great but I just wasn't comfortable with them nailing shingles to bare wood. I wanted to be confident there wouldn't be any leaks in a bad storm when the rain is coming at it in every direction, its added insurance and the proper way of doing a roof for a Canadian climate. The other thing I wanted to do is add a ridge vent to improve attic air circulation and reduce the drain on the AC in summer time since the upper floors always get much hotter than the lower ones. I had one roofer say that he could install the ridge vent and I asked him about filling in the holes and removing the existing static vents and he said that I should just keep the static vents as well. I had done a bit of research and mixing ventilation types on your roof is a big no no, they end up fighting against each other and can actually reduce the ventilation. When I spoke to Max from Twin Peaks he was very professional and able to answer all my questions and was very knowledgeable about installing the ridge vent and doing it properly. Communication with Max was excellent and he also presented us with his roof marketing package that helped with shingle selections, it had a sample of the waterproof membrane, references from previous customers, proof of insurance coverage, everything you would expect from a professional outfit. We decided to hire him to do our roof replacement and we set a date for the work to commence depending upon weather. His crew arrived early on the specified day and they promptly went to work. Max also insured that the waterproof membrane was in place as I requested and also added extra ice and water shield around our dormers for us. He also had his brother go up into our attic and he cleared any insulation that may have been blocking the soffits and he also installed Styrofoam baffles to maximize the air circulation to the new ridge vent. The work went smoothly and the entire roof was completed within a day. The new roof looks great and there is a noticeable difference in temperature on the upper floors since the new vent was installed. This reduction in attic temperature will no doubt prolong the life of the roof and also reduce our cooling costs during the warmer months. All in all it was a positive experience dealing with Max and I would highly recommend hiring Twin Peaks for your roof replacement.
