1/10

I am new in town and wanted to price out the cost for a bathroom rough-in in my basement. I wanted to use a reputable company that I could rely on, and my home inspector had recommended Piper Plumbing. Joseph Broere came to price the job and was very courteous. He followed up a couple weeks later by phone and I informed him that I was unable to get renovation financing, but would he be able to plumb a laundry sink and install a door for me instead. He agreed, but told me he had to run it through a different account. He came when agreed, did the plumbing and had a Tyson do the door. They did not finish the job and asked for payment. I paid 2/3 of the job, with agreement that it would be completed within the week. Upon closer inspection, I discovered Tyson installed the wrong sized door which means I cannot remove my furniture from that room without smashing down the wall. Also, there was flooding in my basement the next day. Joseph came back and identified a potential problem, agreed that the door would need to be corrected, and committed to coming on the following Saturday. The plumbing fix he identified did not take and my basement flooded again. He did not arrive on Saturday and would not return my calls until I threatened to reverse the payment that I made on my credit card. He set a time to come and never showed. I’ve never heard from him since. Now that I have reviewed this site, I realize Joseph is not the owner of Piper Plumber, but he did arrive in a PP vehicle. Is that a reflection of the standards at PP? You tell me.

Company Response

I am writing this response after personally meeting with Barb today (Aug.30 @ 9am) after reading this review I was quite upset not at the customer but at my own employee who I put a lot of effort and money in training them to be the best as they can be in this service. Communication was completely broke down in this situation and I take full responsibility as a owner. Joe my employee also a good plumber and a great plumber in the making referred a friend to install a door without my knowledge. The door guy (Tyson) , who I have never met installed the wrong door after taking a payment and didn't want to come back according to Joe to fix the problem. I called Barb saying we need to meet. We met and I wanted to make sure that she will get her money back from me and that I would refer a professional home builder to come in that I know and trust. I do all of his plumbing work in his home building construction business. I strongly made this very clear to Joe and the others that we do not refer friends especially people I do not know. I believe it was the right thing to do and a good ending. Thanks Barb for the review.
