We noticed a leaking pipe on Saturday and called Strong Plumbing. He called back promptly and as we said it was not an emergency, he scheduled to come on Monday. Valentin was courteous, efficient, timely, clean (he wore the blue shoe covers) and offered additional helpful suggestions. This is the second time we have used Strong Plumbing and would certainly recommend him. Cost was reasonable.
Plumbing repairs and replacements
I found Strong Plumbing and Valentin on Homestars. Within 24 hours of emailing him, he had contacted me, arranged to come and give an estimate and upon arrival, was able to complete all the jobs the same day. We have an older house and needed several plumbing repairs including new taps in our bathtub, a new tap for the laundry tub and new tap connections for the washing machine. We were particularly concerned about not damaging the existing bathtub tiles andd walls. Not only was Valentin very knowledgeable and experienced, he arrived with the proper products for our situation and was able to do the repairs expertly, quickly and efficiently. He and his assistant were polite, helpful, wore "booties" in the house and cleaned up after themselves. He also made some excellent suggestions in general on how to keep the plumbing working smoothly. We greatly appreciated his talents and would definitely recommend him to anyone. After finding Canadian Roofing through Homestars, Bill showed why he is a "10". He went up on the roof, carefully looked over our current situation (we did have a leak when it rained), listened carefully to what our concerns and desires were and thoroughly explained his suggestions to us. He was readily accessible by email and phone both before and during the actual work. When his crew arrived, they were fast, efficient, courteous, clean and neat and were happy to answer my questions. They paid close attention to details including repairing the roofing wood and adapting small details as necessary while working (without changing the price). They were finished within two days and thoroughly cleaned up after themselves. The final price was the same as the quote - no surprises! The bricks in our chimney were disintegrating. After obtaining a few quotes from different contractors we chose to work with Glenwood. Glenwood came highly recommended from our roofing company and while not the least expensive quote, Glenwood was competitive and provided a few options regarding how much work could be done. When they arrived, they were polite, efficient, neat, tidy, took evident pride in their work and finished the job in two days. Rudy was very pleased (as were we) that he was able to so closely match our house brick - an unusual multi-coloured brick. We are very happy with the end result and would recommend Glenwood to anyone.

The brick on your building was an old style of Ontario sized Aztec Brick. The sun and weather had over the years washed out most of the brighter colours. The old style Aztec didn’t have any blacks on them like the new ones do. Most masons avoid using these bricks to match – I don’t. The new Aztec brick has the darker green or blacks only on one end. The other end of the brick is either red or yellow or a blend of the two. The trick to making it match is to make sure the every dark end is turned in toward the chimney and not exposed to the outside.
I really enjoyed the challenge of making your chimney match the house.
