Sam was great. Discussed the service, did an excellent job and spent the time necessary to deal with both nests. He sealed up the outside and inside and did an in house inspection to see if the treatment was driving the wasps into the house. His service was so good that when I discovered a different nest on our patio, I called Orbis immediately.

Veselin was honest, fair and the work was excellent. Our roof has a very steep pitch and we have a low slope roof over the extension. Because we are a bit tight on money, Veselin broke down the project into parts so we could decide how much work we wanted to do now and maybe save some for later. He wrote up the quote for the steep roof, while we looked into other quotes. When we decided to go with Veselin we opted to do the whole project including some aluminum siding. On a verbal commitment he came in and did all the work to spec, in a timely fashion with no surprises. As per his word and expertise he included all repairs to the the roof deck in the original price and kept us apprised of any issues. He walked me through to inspect the work and the clean up was excellent. What I appreciated most is the no-surprises quote and their commitment to follow through. Also, Veselin took complete responsibility for the work and made sure everything was to the highest quality. Other quotes were similar in price because they were strong referrals, but while they say they would make small repairs to the roof deck as needed, the contract says it will be an extra cost. Also, I found the person calculating the cost isn't always the person who came out to look at the roof and is probably different than the person doing the work. I feel fortunate to have found V.T. Roofing and would recommend them to anyone needing work large or small.

With the weather not cooperating, we got off to a late start. Weather was a problem throughout the whole rebuild but Rudy was honest and followed through on his word. Although our original start date was pushed back a bit, when Rudy had an opportunity to do the chimney rebuild (from the roof up) a week early he called us and came the night before to set up for the job. Aaron was doing the brick work and was professional, friendly, fast and clean. He only got through the tear down before the rain started and he had to tarp in and was forced to come back 2 days later. Because of a severe wind storm the chimney liner was ripped out. I phoned Rudy (on a Sunday night when it happened) and in less the 10 hours they were here securing the site. During the job, they invited me to come inspect the work and explained what they were doing and what needed to be done. In addition to letting me inspect the work they took videos and pictures to show me what they had done. Rudy doesn't take payment until the job is complete which included a thorough cleaning. Nothing was left behind, they took all the garbage away and the roof and yard were as clean as if they had never been there. In addition to being very competent and professional they were also very personable and when I asked about fixing a small crack somewhere else they just did it without trying to nickle and dime me. They also replace the liner at their cost even though it was not there fault. There are 2 questions I ask when considering a small company for a job and that is, Are they Competent? and Will they follow through? The answer is a resounding YES on both accounts. Rudy and Aaron also came by a couple of days later to do a quality inspection when I mentioned we had rain, freezing temperatures and 90 km/h wind gusts the day after the job. There quote was $700-$1000 less than the competing quotes which I obtained from companies with 10 star ratings on this site. If you think you would like Rudy to do work for you I would call right away, because I know he is really busy and booked well in advance.

Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
If you are considering any chimney or brick work, give Rudy (Glenwood Masonry) a call. They take pride in their work, and follow through. Because they are a small company you may have to be patient with respect to scheduling, but with larger companies you never know if you are getting their best crew on your job.

Company Response

Mark,
I give you a 10/10. You have a great personality and are easy to talk with. Your parents are also a charm.
The food was great – thanks for lunch. Hint! Hint - For anyone reading this review. That always wins the hearts of a hungry hard working bricklayer.
It was a pleasure to work on your chimney. I will be putting your chimney project on the website sometime soon.
Thanks,
Rudy
