Jay Carter Roofing installed a new steel roof in our house. They claimed that it will be so sealed that mice will never get in, but we have mice or rats getting into the roof eating the foam insulation they put under the steel roof. We constantly hear them. We climbed up the side of the roof, and the soffit has loose parts that you can just push over, which are not even screwed in. They also installed an eavesdrop with the downspouts facing right into the foundation, causing the basement to flood, after we told them where to put the downspouts.. When we finally threatened them with a bad review, they came and put the downspouts in the right place, but only one person came to remove it and slope it the opposite way. With one person only, he couldn't get it to slope properly, and now it bows down in the middle, thus having ot full of water all the time and inviting mosquitoes and rodents that always find their way in since, as I mentioned, the roof is not properly sealed. We are very stressed about this situation and would not recommend this company to anyone. In fact, I have been telling people to stay away from Jay Carter Roofing. This is unacceptable We tried calling for 3 months until someone finally got back to us the time we had the problem with the eavesthrough. .Very unprofessional to expect your clients to climb up a new roof and start looking for entry points for rodents

Approximate cost of services:
$20,000.00

Company Response

Santiago ,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We would like to express our apologies for any distress you have experienced following the metal roof installation at your property.

We wish to clarify that a metal roof installation's primary purpose is to offer durability, energy efficiency, and protection against various elements. However, preventing rodent infestations is unfortunately not within the capabilities of any roofing system. Rodent issues are typically linked to a variety of factors that are beyond the control of roofing work, and resolving such problems often requires professional pest control services.

We have noted your mention of using negative reviews as leverage during our interactions. It is indeed unfortunate that discussions about service concerns have escalated to this point, where threats of negative reviews are used to gain concessions. Our goal has always been to maintain open, respectful, and constructive dialogue with all our clients, addressing concerns and misunderstandings collaboratively and professionally.

It is crucial to acknowledge the importance of presenting the entire story instead of selectively sharing parts that might tarnish the company's reputation unfairly. The flood you experienced was not a consequence of the work we performed on the downpipe. We replaced the downpipe precisely where the original one was located, and it is crucial to understand that the unfortunate flooding was attributable to external factors such as snow, freezing temperatures, and the property's slope. The home was under full renovation at the time and was in a state of dis repair. It is essential to note that this area has a history of flooding under similar conditions, which is entirely out of our control.

To further underline our commitment to customer satisfaction and address your concerns, we have taken additional steps to mitigate future problems proactively. As a courtesy, and despite the floods not being a result of our initial work, we returned to your property to reposition and extend the downpipe and trough to a new location that would potentially minimize the risk of flooding. We undertook this extra work under the explicit threat of negative reviews and without any obligation to do so, purely in an attempt to provide an exemplary level of service and customer satisfaction. It is imperative for future discourse to reflect the whole scenario accurately and fairly for it to be constructive and beneficial for all parties involved.
The use of threats, including the threat of negative reviews, hinders the possibility of an amicable and cooperative resolution to service-related concerns. These actions create a hostile environment that is not conducive to problem-solving, making it increasingly difficult for both parties to communicate effectively and work together towards a resolution.

Given these circumstances, we regret to inform you that we cannot continue engaging in a professional relationship characterized by threats and accusations. It is with disappointment that we conclude it may be in the best interest of both parties to part ways at this juncture. We sincerely hope you find the appropriate solutions to the issues you are encountering with your home and wish you all the best moving forward.

For any additional concerns or inquiries, you are always welcome to reach out. With 22 years of experience in installing metal roofs on homes, we stand by the quality and durability of our work.
