March 2023, we hired Citywide to repair our deck. Good reviews. $9000 estimate, seemed solid. The crew came by and resurfaced the deck quite quickly - mostly. The last of the deck repair took weeks, then more weeks, getting the deck railings reattached and final install done. I also paid another $3000+ to have -new- railings put on the stairs (which we needed for the bank to sign off on). More than $12000 total. We were away from the house on a family trip when the railings were put back on the deck, the stair railings were installed and the project itself was finished. We returned and I took a look at the railings, both on the deck and on the stairs. Not acceptable. Really not acceptable and quite unsafe. These are poorly affixed and in the case of the deck rails, very dangerous. One portion of the railing was not attached at all, but -appeared- to be unless you looked closely at the fastening point. Lean against this and over you will go. The rails on the stairs look like $287 big box store crap and are far from stable, with two bolts on the bottom per post. At a cost to us, before markup and labour, of $1600. They do not fit the stairs that Citywide built for us. The stairs the seem somewhat cobbled together to me. Really surprised this is found to be acceptable. I contacted Citywide weeks ago about these issues, no response, ignored. You take not only your wallet but your health and your safety in your hands if you hire these people.
