To say dealing with Global Empire contracting was a disaster would be a massive understatement. We hired Global Empire Contracting for 2 jobs. A 400+ sqft deck (paid In full) and separately a full house reno (85% paid). 11 months in and neither job is complete or even nearly complete. To start, the deck framing was so bad we had to hire a private home inspector who provided an 11 page report of all the problems with the framing and foundation of the deck. The city inspector just shook his head as he walked by. Global Empire contracting had the framing redone but is trying to charge us an extra 5000+ for redoing it and that is as far as we have progressed. The house is in such poor shape that we had to again hire private inspectors to come and tell us what is wrong. To name a few things, wiring issues throughout (as report provided by a licensed electrician) everything from wires without junction boxes in the walls to wrong Gauge wiring used to power the stove, fridge, lights. There are several wires to the panel that are too short. The private inspector with well over 20 years experience in construction has advised that the house is at less than 50% to completion in his report although Global Empire Contracting tried to tell us she is a week from finish and demanding final payment. The tiling is about 20-25% of the minimum required by ANSI and TTMAC standards, at first they placed tiles in the shower stall without ANY waterproofing. There are tiles over 12x8 holes in the ground visible from the crawlspace. The drywall is visibly not straight and seams showing throughout. The brand new flooring is scratched because Global Empire contracting removed all the construction floor covering even before the tiling started. The plumbing is problematic in many areas as we are told by the home inspector, The window sills were all installed incorrectly. Aesthetically it is a literal shambles with doors opening towards the wall plugs, plugs in walls all at different heights in the same room, a light plug carved inside a closet!!! chips and cracks throughout the brand new door jams, Major code violations like no smoke alarms in bedrooms, no fan in washroom, and the list goes on and on and on and on. In my opinion Global Empire contracting has very little if any knowledge in construction or project management. In 11 months she was onsite for a total of 14-16 hours in total, a good portion of that just waiting for city inspectors which she bailed on twice. On a side note we were handed a STOP work order from the city mainly due to the shambles of a jobsite this company ran. We are lucky enough to move on from this as a very expensive lesson that dealing with unprofessional people like this but it makes me lose sleep at night that this woman might do this to a new family and bankrupt them. so please please be careful. I would highly recommend to be very very very careful if you are planning to hire Global Empire Contracting. As our house will likely need to be completely redone we will likely sue for the remediation work which will likely be 150k plus and not something most one person companies can survive. A quick search of BC civil court records will also show 2 more lawsuits within the last 2 years with this company. They certainly seem to be on a roll of terrible service.

Approximate cost of services:
$290,000.00
