3rd Storey Addition - Architectural Services
We searched and interviewed many architects to work with us for our 3rd storey addition. We chose to work with Bart for his experience, knowledge of the permit process, and ease of communication. The timing of this project from inception to shovel was critical as we wanted to get a permit to start work as early as possible to lock in a contractor and costs. Bart was extremely responsive, and helped us get permits in record time. On the architectural side, Bart was extremely experienced in 60-70 year old houses such as ours and we felt secure with his technical direction and quality of design/layouts. We will definitely use Bart on our next project.

This was the architectural design of a third floor addition to a Toronto house focused on a tight timeline, which can be an experience ranging from invigorating to unpleasant and this project was firmly the former. If one embraces the idea that it is the quality of attitude that everyone brings to the work that opens the door for possibility then truly remarkable things can happen. The owners were excited about what they hoped was achievable, they listened to the potential limitations, they did their homework, and they responded to setbacks gracefully...this is how to get the most from your team. Of course the team has to respond in kind and do their part to make it all work. The other critical factor was a lot of felicitous timing with the City approvals process resulting in an unofficial record for taking a project through Committee of Adjustment and on to a building permit. It was a great experience to work with Nirvan and his wife and I look forward to future projects with them.
